You don’t need a perfect routine.

You just need one you’ll actually do.

Days are expensive. When you spend a day, you have one less day to spend. So make sure you spend each one wisely.

I remember the morning this really hit me.

I was sitting at my desk, and I realized I'd just burned through an entire week without doing a single thing that moved my life forward. I'd been busy every day — meetings, phone calls, errands, tasks — but none of it mattered. I'd "spent" five days and had nothing of value to show for it.

That's when Jim Rohn's words came alive for me. Days are expensive. Not metaphorically. Literally.

Think about it this way. If you're 40 years old, you have roughly 14,600 days left (if you're fortunate to live to 80). That's your balance. Every single morning, you withdraw one day from that account. It doesn't matter what you do with it — whether you invest it wisely or waste it completely — it's gone.

And here's the part that should make you sit up straight: unlike money, you can't check your balance. You don't know how many days you have left. You just know it's one fewer than yesterday.

Jim would ask audiences, "If someone handed you $86,400 every morning and told you the balance resets at midnight — you lose whatever you don't use — how carefully would you spend it?" Everyone would say, "Very carefully!"

Then he'd remind them: you get 86,400 seconds every morning. Same deal. No rollover. No savings account. Use it or lose it.

The people who accomplish extraordinary things aren't people with more time. They're people who recognize how expensive each day is and refuse to waste the investment.
