Love this little monster - all ready for the dentist! It's hard to see what she's clinging to in the picture but it's her Adaptiv roller. At 6 she knew all on her own to roll it on before we left and take it with her in case she got nervous.

I want to share a different way to use essential oils - play-doh - when my little guy was struggling with sensory issues I used a lot of essential oils to get him used to different scents and be able to manage them. One of the ways I did that was to add a few drops to play doh. Here is a great gluten free recipe - add whatever oils you like - our favourites were peppermint, cinnamon or lavender.

1 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
3/4 cup water
Food colour

Mix baking soda and cornstarch in a pot
Add water and food colour and turn to medium heat
Stir well to remove any lumps
Add a few drops of oil
Continue stirring until it starts to ball around the spoon then remove from heat and stir until it's pretty much together in a ball.

I want to start Autism awareness month talking about Adaptiv- one of my favourite oils.
How do we use it in our house? My roller bottle is always with me. If I'm having a bad day I use it. Kids overwhelming me - it goes on my wrist.
When someone in my house starts to have a meltdown or get anxious about something a few drops in the Diffuser or a roll on the back of their necks makes the world of difference.
Want to create a calm, relaxing bedtime routine? We use the linen spray about half an hour before bed on their sheets and put it in the Diffuser to calm the room.

For any of you that know me, you know how passionate I am about advocating for my little guy with ASD. Since April is Autism awareness month I am going to share some of my favourite oils that I have used with him to get us through a day or a moment. To start let me tell you about my Bam Bam. He is an amazing little guy with a heart of gold and super intelligent. Need a computer fixed, have a tech problem- he's your guy! Want to know every detail about giraffes - ask him. Just don't expect him to look at you while you speak to him because his eyes will wander but he's still listening. Please don't touch him, or hug him unless he says it's OK first. If things smell too strong - he will tell you - most likely by gagging or puking - but you'll know! Throughout this month I'll share bits and pieces of our journey and how I have used essential oils to help us through the last 12 years. What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Got these cute little glass spray bottles from Amazon and tried 2 different mixes for detangler spray for miss Talia. We did them together so she learned what each oil does for her hair. Got her hair brushed in minutes and best part was no tears for the first time ever 😁
