Closer to the end of the month, as I will be taking some time off to move and set up at our new location. Starting in April

4. Being Gentle is Key
The less you mess with your lashes, the better! Avoid tugging, rubbing, or plucking them. Also avoid eyelash curlers as they will weaken the extensions and cause breakage. at all costs. Of course, you are a human and not a robot. Therefore, you are bound to get an itch around your eyes eventually. We get it. In the event of an itch, try to make it a habit to run a brush through your lashes instead of rubbing them. If you do get a loose lash, avoid the urge to pull it off. Your extensions are bonded to your natural lashes with very strong glue and pulling them off may also pull out your natural lash. If you need your lashes removed, please make an appointment with a professional to have that done. Keep those natural lashes safe!
5. Schedule Regular Fills
Your natural lashes shed daily and the extensions will shed right along with them. To keep your lashes looking fabulous you will need regular fills, about every two-three weeks
Butterflylash wants you to look and feel your best. We hope you find these tips useful! Do not forget to book and make an appointment for your next lash refill. We look forward to seeing you and helping your lashes look their very best!

1. Keep Them Dry
For your lashes to get the best bond possible, you will want to avoid getting them wet for the first 12-24 hours. This will give the adhesive time to fully set and adhere to your lash line. In addition to this, we also recommend that you avoid steamy atmospheres for the first 48 hours. This would include things like, saunas, hot yoga sessions, and tanning beds.
2. Sleep on Your Back
Many health professionals recommend sleeping on your back to reduce pressure on your shoulders and spine but sleeping on your back is also good for your lashes! recommended by us! Sleeping on your side is also fine if that is most comfortable for you. The main point is to avoid sleeping on your face and lashes. If you do sleep on your side, the main objective is to keep from smashing your lashes into your pillow as this can dislodge or kink the extensions.
3. Clean and Brush Them
For your lashes to last, it is crucial that you clean and brush them daily. Make sure to wash your lashes wash them and your face even if you have not been wearing makeup. When cleaning them it is also important to use an oil free cleanser such as our Butterflylash Foaming Cleanser. This is because Oil will break down the lash adhesive very rapidly and cause your extensions to fall out faster than they should. The exact opposite of Not what we want! When cleansing, avoid pulling or tugging at all costs. Gently use your fingertips or a lash-cleansing brush to get the job done.
Along with oils, be wary of salt build up around your lash line as well, since this will also hasten the degradation of the adhesive. After a good cry from a heart wrenching movie, or after a powerful sweat session you will want to wash those you lashes. as well.
In addition to keeping your lashes clean, you will also want to lightly brush them with a clean mascara wand every morning. This way, any lashes that got tangled or sideways while you slept can be combed and fluffed for a perfectly flirty look.
Stay tuned for part 2 💗

Must know facts about eyelash extensions
1) Eyelash extensions are not “one size fits all”. Everyone’s lashes are different and eyelash extensions should be customized to each individual for the correct length and thickness to suit their look and ensure the health of their natural lashes. Not everyone can or should get super long or super thick eyelash extensions
2) A full set of eyelash extensions is not all one length. The shape of your lash line tapers it’s longer in the center and shorter on the outsides and your extensions should be too. Following the design of the natural lashes creates natural looking extensions!
3) Natural lashes grow to a finite length are different for each person. fall out and are replaced by new growth, just like the hairs on your head. When eyelash extensions are applied and maintained correctly, they will grow out with your natural lash and still be attached to the lash when it sheds.
4) Natural lashes are constantly growing in and falling out at different times so your eyelash extensions will too! There is no set amount of time that eyelash extensions will last because they will shed with the natural lash they are attached to when it grows out and that time varies. Due to growth cycles and different stages, the best estimate is that you will shed 1-5 natural lashes per day including those with extensions and those without. Frequent re-lashes will replace those that have shed to maintain a full look.
5) . You SHOULD be seeing your natural lashes and extensions fall out together. This is normal. If your extensions fall off before the natural lash, the adhesive bond wasn’t strong enough or maintenance instructions were not followed correctly.
6) Eyelash extension adhesive is designed to create a permanent bond between the extension and the natural lash. It is nearly impossible to remove extensions yourself without damaging your natural lashes. See a professional if you need removal!

Tips to help you prepare for your lash appointment
Shower before hand
After your lash extension appointment, you’ll need to avoid getting your lashes wet for at least 24-48 hour So do yourself a favor and take a shower in the morning, before the appointment. You’ll be more comfortable knowing that you’re clean, and you won’t have to time an evening shower.
Set Aside Enough Time
Your first eyelash extension appointment can take anywhere from an hour and a half to three hours, depending on the style of lashes you’re having done so wear comfortable clothes. It may sound like a long time, but remember that we’re applying the lash extensions one by one to each one of your natural lashes.
Contact lenses
DON’T wear your contacts during your service. You’ll have your eyes closed and you’ll want to prevent your contacts from drying during this time. Make sure to bring your contact lens case with you to your appointment and remove the contacts prior to your service. Not only will keeping your eyes closed affect your dryness, but eyelash adhesive releases fumes that can irritate the eye if it’s open at all (so it’s best to avoid the temptation to open by taking your contacts out. Hard lash contacts also run the risk of rolling back into the eye during the service um, no thanks! So if you’re thinking about risking it and wearing your contacts during your service please don’t!
Have an Idea of Your Style
Lash extensions are endlessly customizable, so it’s good to come with an idea of the styles you like. A great lash stylist will take her time to listen to you. She’ll also give her own recommendations based on your eye shape and what will be safe for your natural lashes.
Plan Your Questions in Advance
As you read and do your research you may also end up with some questions. But don’t be afraid to ask your lash stylist questions. We love having curious, well informed clients, and when you ask questions, there’s less room for misunderstandings.

Let’s talk about how to improve lash retention in between appointments
Take amazing care of your lashes! Every new client needs a lash cleanser, cleanser brush and spoolies items that will help you maintain your extension.
Lash extensions are a beautiful, natural looking way to enhance your features and remove the need for a morning makeup routine, but they require some maintenance to protect your investment!
What does lash retention mean ?
retention is how many lash extensions are still fully attached by the time you come in for a fill.
False retention occurs when the natural lashes are bonded together, preventing the extensions from growing out naturally with your lashes. This is a telltale sign of a poorly applied set of lashes and can cause damage to your lash line and breakage to your natural lashes. It can also cause pain and discomfort as the growing lashes pull on the lashes they’re glued to. Ouch!
A properly applied lash extension is bonded to ONE individual natural lash, so it grows out as your natural lash grows out. For this reason, you will need your lash extensions filled every two to three weeks to keep them looking full and fresh.
What’s the Difference Between a Fill and a New Set of Lash Extensions?
Every 2-3 weeks after your first appointment, you should see your lash tech for a fill. The longer you wait, the less retention you will have and the more time and the higher the cost of your fill.
What can I do to improve my lash retention?
Proper care of your lash extensions is essential to good lash retention- which saves you money and keeps you looking 100%, so it’s a win-win! Here are some things you can do to help keep your lashes looking their best:
Always cleanse as instructed with an eyelash extension-friendly cleanser. Dirt and oil accumulating in the lash line can lead to premature lash loss and is not healthy for your eyes.
Ask your lash tech to ensure that products like mascara, eyeliner, and face cream are extension-friendly and oil-free before using them.
Friction is one of the main reasons lash extensions fall out prematurely – whether that’s from sleeping on your face, or from rubbing/pulling on them with your fingers.
