A treatment menu is NOT a skin strategy.
Choosing a procedure because it is trending on TikTok, because a friend loved it, or because it promises « glass skin » can lead to wasted money, unnecessary downtime and disappointing results.
The real question is not:
“Which treatment do you want?”
It is:
“What is your skin trying to achieve, and what is the safest, smartest way to get it there?”
At SkinScience, we look at your skin history, barrier health, inflammation, pigmentation, lifestyle, current products and long-term goals before recommending a procedure.
Sometimes the best treatment is not the most aggressive one. Sometimes the right answer is better sequencing, more recovery, or choosing a completely different technology.
Expert results rarely come from one treatment.
They come from choosing the right treatment, at the right time, for the right skin.
Visit SkinScience to find out which treatments will give you the skin results you desire. We’d love to meet you.

Are you using high quality products, but not getting the results you expect?
You can spend hundreds on beautifully formulated serums and still see very little change.
Why? Because results depend on far more than the price tag or ingredient list.
1. You may be using the wrong ingredients for the job.
A peptide serum will not correct pigmentation the way targeted pigment inhibitors can. A rich moisturizer will not solve congestion if the real issue is abnormal cell turnover.
2. You may be creating too much inflammation.
Overusing retinoids, acids, scrubs and strong actives can keep the skin in a constant state of irritation, weakening the barrier and cancelling out the benefits you were trying to create.
3. The ingredients may be right, but the delivery system may be wrong.
Concentration matters, but so do stability, formulation, molecular size, packaging and the vehicle carrying the ingredient into the skin.
4. Your products may be working against each other.
Too many competing actives, incompatible formulas or poorly planned layering can reduce tolerance, destabilize ingredients and make consistency nearly impossible.
5. You may not be using enough, often enough, or long enough.
The best formula cannot work from inside the bottle. Skin change requires the correct amount, regular use and realistic timelines.
6. Sometimes skincare simply cannot finish the job.
Pigmentation, vascular redness, texture and deeper collagen changes may require the right technology. For example, laser may be a better choice for certain pigmentation concerns than repeatedly microneedling the area.
Great skin is rarely about finding one “perfect” product.
It is about choosing the right ingredients, in the right formulations, used in the right order, alongside the right treatments.
That is the difference between owning good products and having a real skin strategy.

A “base tan” is not skin prep. It is visible evidence that your skin has already been injured.
When the sun is strong, pampering your skin is not about adding more actives. It is about reducing stress, protecting its antioxidant reserves and helping the barrier recover.
BEFORE EXPOSURE:
Apply a broad-spectrum, water-resistant SPF 30 to 50 generously, ideally 15 minutes before going outside. Bring protection beyond sunscreen too, sunglasses, a wide-brimmed hat, shade and lightweight clothing. In the morning, support your sunscreen with antioxidants, but skip aggressive exfoliation, peels and anything that leaves your skin irritated or sensitized.
Marie’s favorites:
- Aliquote Skin MasterAOx Serum
- Colorescience NO SHOW Mineral SPF50
DURING EXPOSURE:
Reapply sunscreen at least every two hours, and sooner after swimming, sweating or towelling off. Do not wait until your skin feels hot or looks pink. By then, inflammation has already started. A hydrating mist can feel lovely, but it does not replace sunscreen, shade or reapplication.
Marie’s favorites:
- Colorescience Powder Sunscreen SPF50
- Large brimmed hat & sunglasses
- Seek shade and drink plenty of water
AFTER EXPOSURE:
Think recovery, not punishment. Cleanse gently, cool the skin gradually, and replenish water and lipids with humectants, soothing ingredients and barrier-supportive moisturizers. Avoid scrubs, strong acids and retinoids if the skin feels warm, tight or reactive. Redness is not the time to “resurface.”
Marie’s favorites:
- HaleDerma HOCl spray
- Bioderma After Sun Gel-Creme (available at Shoppers)
The most luxurious summer skin ritual is not doing more. It is knowing when your skin needs protection, when it needs hydration, and when it simply needs to be left alone.
Save this as your summer skin recovery plan, and send it to someone who still thinks a base tan is protective.

Your sunscreen choice should match your skin biology, not just your beach bag. ☀️ 🧴 🏝️
Not all sunscreens protect the skin in the exact same way, and understanding the difference matters, especially if you’re dealing with pigmentation, sensitivity, rosacea, acne, melasma or post-treatment skin.
1. MINERAL SUNSCREENS use inorganic filters like zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide. They sit on the surface of the skin and help scatter, reflect and absorb UV radiation. Zinc oxide is especially loved in clinical skin care because it offers broad UVA + UVB protection and is usually well tolerated by sensitive or reactive skin.
2. TINTED MINERAL SUNSCREENS take this one step further. The tint usually comes from iron oxides, and this matters because iron oxides help protect against visible light, the part of light that can worsen melasma and stubborn pigmentation, especially in deeper Fitzpatrick skin types. So if pigmentation is your main concern, tinted mineral SPF is often the smarter daily choice.
3. CHEMICAL SUNSCREENS use organic UV filters that absorb UV energy and convert it into heat. They tend to feel lighter, more invisible and more elegant on the skin, which means people often apply them more consistently. The best sunscreen is still the one you will actually wear enough of, every single day.
My skin longevity rule:
Choose broad spectrum SPF 30+, apply generously, reapply when outdoors, and don’t rely on sunscreen alone. Hats, shade, antioxidants and smart timing matter too.
Because beautiful skin is not about avoiding the sun completely.
It’s about respecting what light does to the skin.

Your skin doesn’t need “a laser.”
It needs the right wavelength, for the right concern, at the right depth.
Laser Genesis, Green Genesis, and Pico Laser are often talked about as if they do the same thing, but they are very different tools.
Laser Genesis is our collagen-supporting, redness-softening, glow-building favourite.
Green Genesis is beautiful when we want to target more superficial redness, vascular tone, and visible colour irregularity.
Pico Laser works differently, using ultra-short pulses to target pigment, tattoo ink, uneven tone, and stubborn discoloration with less heat than traditional laser approaches.
The magic is not choosing the “strongest” treatment.
It is choosing the treatment that matches your skin biology, your pigment risk, your downtime tolerance, and your long-term skin goals.
In our latest blog, we break down:
- What each technology does best
- Who each one is ideal for
- The difference between 532 nm and 1064 nm
- Benefits, precautions, and Fitzpatrick considerations
- How to choose safely and strategically
Because beautiful results should never be random. They should be customized.

Your skin doesn’t need a 17-step routine. It needs a rhythm.
Think of your routine less like “product layering” and more like giving your skin exactly what it needs, in the right order.
Cleanse
Not to strip. Not to punish. To reset the canvas, remove the day, and let the next steps actually do their job.
Treat
This is where strategy lives. Pigment, texture, breakouts, redness, collagen support, this step should be intentional. Not trendy. Not random. Chosen for your skin.
Hydrate
Because skin that is dehydrated will often look older, duller, more reactive, and less resilient. Hydration isn’t fluff, it’s function.
Protect
The step that makes the rest of your routine matter. SPF, antioxidants, barrier support, this is how we defend the investment you’re making in your skin.
The secret isn’t doing more.
It’s doing the right things, in the right order, consistently enough for your skin to respond.
Cleanse. Treat. Hydrate. Protect.
Simple, but never basic.
Because great skin isn’t built by chaos.
It’s built by strategy. ✨

I used to think aging would feel like losing something.
But the truth is, as my skin changes, I have never felt more like myself.
There is something powerful about reaching an age where your inner sense of who you are becomes stronger than the old rules about beauty. Strong enough that you stop seeing every line as something to fix. Strong enough that you can look at your skin and see what it has carried you through.
I don’t see wrinkles as failure. I see experience. I see resilience. I see softness without weakness. I see grit without hardness. I see a life that has been lived fully, felt deeply, and still remains open.
Beautiful skin was never meant to mean untouched skin. Healthy skin is not wrinkle-free. Healthy skin is resilient, flexible, reflective. It adapts. It protects. It tells the truth.
And maybe that’s what real beauty is too.
Not the absence of change, but the presence of strength. Not perfection, but integrity. Not looking younger, but looking more and more like yourself.
If my skin is changing, that does not mean my beauty is fading. My skin is changing, yes. But so is my perspective. And maybe that’s the gift.

Vacation mode is ON… but so is my skin nerd brain. 🧠✨
Since I have a little more time to breathe, think, read, and scroll through all the skin care trends making the rounds, I thought this would be the perfect moment to open the floor.
Ask me anything about SkinScience.
Treatments. Products. Lasers. Skin trends. Ingredients. Pigmentation. Acne. Aging. Barrier repair. What’s worth it, what’s overhyped, and what needs a little more science before we all start drinking the industry Kool-Aid.
Curious about what treatment would make sense for your skin?
Wondering if a viral ingredient actually does anything?

Most people don’t need “more skincare.” They need a better strategy.
Because your skin doesn’t age in a straight line, and it definitely doesn’t read the same textbook as everyone else’s.
In your 20s, the focus is usually protection: SPF, antioxidants, hydration, gentle correction.
In your 30s, we start thinking stimulation: collagen, tone, early volume changes, texture, and smarter actives.
In your 40s, it becomes about renewal: firmness, lift, deeper collagen support, pigment control, and keeping the skin responsive.
In your 50s and 60s, the goal is not to “erase” your face, it’s to support thinner skin, restore radiance, improve texture, and help the skin behave like its healthiest version.
But here’s the real SkinScience difference:
A great skin plan is like a puzzle.
There may be 9 main pieces: collagen, pigment, inflammation, barrier, hydration, laxity, texture, volume, and prevention.
But everyone’s puzzle looks different.
Your age matters, yes.
But so does your skin history, lifestyle, hormones, genetics, inflammation, budget, downtime, tolerance, and what your skin is actually capable of doing right now.
That’s why customization is not “pick a facial.”
It’s understanding which pieces matter most, in what order, and how to make them work together.
Aging skin doesn’t need panic.
It needs a plan.
And preferably one that doesn’t come from a TikTok comment section. 😉
Book your skin consultation, let’s solve the puzzle before your bathroom counter becomes a crime scene.
