The biggest lie you’ve been told about your hair? “Just stop cutting it.”

If you’ve been trying to grow your hair out and feel like you’ve hit a brick wall, you’re probably falling for one of these 3 massive hair myths. Let’s set the record straight:

❌ Myth 1: Trimming your hair makes it grow faster.
The Reality: Your hair grows from your scalp, not your ends. Trims don’t speed up growth, but they DO stop split ends from traveling up and breaking off. If you don’t trim, you lose length anyway.

❌ Myth 2: You need to brush your hair 100 strokes a day for shine.
The Reality: Aggressive, excessive brushing causes massive friction and mechanical breakage. Detangle gently from the bottom up, preferably with a wide-tooth comb or a wet brush.

❌ Myth 3: Hair growth oils can magically cure split ends.
The Reality: Once a hair strand splits, it’s split. No oil can glue it back together permanently. Oils are great for protecting your scalp and hydrating healthy mid-lengths, but only a pair of shears fixes a split end. 💇‍♀️

Katherine grew up in BC, where her love for hair started by braiding her teammates’ hair while playing volleyball. She loves the creativity of helping guests fall in love with their natural colour through soft, lived-in balayage.

It’s not every day a bride-to-be sits in our chair and says, “chop it off.” But Abbi did.

Right before her wedding, Jess asked, “are you sure?” - and her answer stuck with us. She said, “I’m a short hair girl. I love my hair short. I realized I was trying to make my hair look how everyone else wanted… and I wasn’t listening to myself.”
