Pre-race massage or post-race massage?
Both! But honestly, if I had to choose, I'd go with pre-race every time.
This might sound surprising and counterintuitive, but hear me out. In the weeks leading up to your event, you've put in the work. You've trained for months and peaked at longer distances, faster speeds, and more weekly kilometers. Your body did the work, and now it's taking that training and adapting.
Tapering is a whole beast of feeling pent up, bored, antsy, and questioning if you've done enough. (You have!)
A massage a few days before a race gets the blood flowing, the tissues relaxed, and reduces your stress levels. Helps with little aches and pains and improves range of motion.
I always aim to have a massage 3 or 4 days before a race, as a final way to let it all go and feel ready.
After the race...well, that's a whole other story. Same concepts apply, within a week post race... but that one might feel a bit less "relaxing."

Sports Massage:
Do I offer it? YES! I consider myself a therapeutic relaxation therapist. I am results driven and treat each massage with intention.
Many of my clients come for general maintenance with a bit of focus on trouble spots. Some come due to injury or some new ache or pain. Some are athletic people in training who use massage for recovery and to perform their best.
As an athlete myself, I can't imagine my routine not including regular massage (and often physio and chiro). I will always tell you that recovery is part of the program.
• Faster Recovery
• Injury Prevention
• Enhanced Performance
Sport massage isn't about pressure. It's not some magic technique that is different from "regular" massage; it's about focus. Deeper tissue is reached through slower, more specific, and more isolated movements. This can also mean the use of cups, stretches, trigger point work, and myofascial techniques.
In general, a sports massage is region focused, and I would recommend 45-60min as a good duration. If we are treating an injury, weekly appointments are a great start (3, then re-assess), and for maintenance/recovery, 4-6 weeks between sessions is likely very reasonable.

My planner brain with my laundry:
"I'll throw the load in after my first client, then it can go in the dryer after my second client, and I can put it away before I head home"
Shared laundry: Hahaha.
Nope. 1:45 on washer #1 0:23 on washer #2
Sensor washer showing "1min": "We don't follow the laws of time and space bro. I mean maybe I meant 10min...or 20min...calm down with your rules"
Reality: Throw laundry in some time. Move to dryer before shift, after shift, or perhaps tomorrow...fold and put away when you come in next...or have a break...or maybe next shift.

I thought I'd re-introduce myself. But rather than self-bio tidbits, I decided it would be interesting to ask my closest friends to describe me (all have known me 20yrs or more).
All I can say is "Thanks guys!" 🥹🥰
🔹️Terry is a master baker!!! Also very professional and good at organizing get togethers. Great at seeing the funny side, and a wonderful mom.
🔹️With Terry, you know exactly where she stands. She doesn't dance around discomfort, and it's a breath of fresh air!
🔹️Terry is super passionate about fitness and wellbeing, and it really shows! She’s so much fun to bike or hike with, but fair warning — she turns every outing into a great workout. Expect proper activity specific gear and clothing, a good heart-pumping pace, and way more sweat than scenery gazing.
🔹️Terry has a sincerity about her that is rare. She is so open & honest that it makes me relax & open up more. I also like that she is funny. I like that she's the one person I can have a four hour coffee with and never run out of things to talk about.
🔹️Terry is the most disciplined person I know. When she sets her mind to something - whether it’s running a marathon, planning a vacation or starting her own business.
🔹️One of my favourite things about Terry is that she always leads with her heart. She cares a lot about her relationships and her impact on others. If something doesn’t feel right, she won’t rest until she has dealt with it. Being Terry’s friend has taught me to pay more attention to my own emotions.
🔹️Terry instantly makes you feel at ease. No conversation topic is off-limits and she will laugh at herself all day but never at someone else.
🔹️Terry is the kind of person who signs up for a 140 km bike race… for fun!
🔹️Terry is one of my closest friends, we both have items of clothing that we’ve owned (and worn) for 20 years, and we both get that this is totally normal.
🔹️Terry is thoughtful, direct, and always listening to understand.
🔹️Terry is very sociable, super friendly and a compassionate friend.

It's sunny, and the days are getting longer. I always have your comfort in mind. If you want an eye cover, I have a nice handmade weighted eye shield for your peepers once you turn over.
Handmade sleeves for each individual massage. The natural light in my space is gorgeous and mostly filtered out, but the eye cover allows for soothing darkness and comforting relaxation.

Shout out to the shocking number of clients who have not only embraced my price increases (happening tomorrow) but have asked to pay the new rates early!! And the ones who were all on my case about keeping the tip option an option. ☺️
What a gift and a treasure to have clients care and respect me enough to even say that or offer to prematurely may more. I get very in my head about these things and always fear clap back...so I sure appreciate the sentiment. Hashtag blessed and whatnot 🙌

This week, I am rolling out direct billing. If you have an upcoming appointment or book one going forward, you will receive an eform to fill out so that I can submit to your extended health benefit provider on your behalf.
I will not set up direct billing at the time of appointment for the sake of efficiency (I am just a one woman show) and I will not offer submission to a secondary coverage provider (primary only).
I will still have in studio payment available for anyone who needs/prefers that.
Exciting changes to help your massage experience feel even more relaxing. ✨️

Complementary care.
A regular massage therapy program coupled with other modalities such as physiotherapy, chiropractic, and acupuncture are a perfect combo.
⭐️prolong results of all treatments
⭐️benifit from more frequent treatments
⭐️address injuries and imbalances
⭐️enhance repair and recovery
⭐️experience more well-rounded care
Some modalities are best spaced apart, and some are good back to back. But overall, more tools to heal, assess, and recover will have you feeling your best and keep your body feeling it's best.
