Story time. Last night WestJet removed me from our flight because I had a panic attack during the safety demo — dizzy, nauseous, hot, sweating, fetal position on the floor. 😮💨
Paramedics came. I was fine. But their policy meant I couldn’t fly without a doctor’s note.
Cue: 2.5 hours sleep. A 7:30am walking clinic. Three clinics (two closed or moved). Missing my 10am flight. Missing a full day with my best friend in Montreal. 💔
My body just… shut down. And here’s what I know now — stress hormones, sleep deprivation, and hormonal shifts during perimenopause make our nervous systems SO much more reactive. This wasn’t weakness. This was biology.
Has your body ever said “no” at the worst possible time?
If you don’t love animals, you have no idea what unconditional love really feels like.
I have no words for how hard these little creatures love me, or how they always know when to stay extra close because I’m so broken inside.
My life would be incomplete without their love.

I'll be honest — today wasn't a great day for me.
And when I'm feeling low, I've learned something important: taking care of myself isn't a luxury, it's maintenance. So today that meant a small touch-up appointment. Not because anything is "wrong" with my skin. Just because some days, doing one small thing for yourself is the difference between spiraling and getting through the day.
I talk a lot on this page about biology — hormones, collagen, barrier function. But underneath all of that is a much simpler truth: your skin, your body, your face — they're allowed to be a source of care, not just a project to fix.
If today is a low day for you too, consider this your permission slip to do the small thing. A walk. A skincare reset. An appointment you've been putting off for yourself.
And if you want to start where I always tell women to start — with understanding what your own skin actually needs — comment GLOW and I'll send you my free guide.
Hey Glow Gang! 💜
Just posted a full Stampede Survival Skincare Reset video — and I wanted to share the science behind WHY I chose each step, especially for those of us in perimenopause.
Why this routine works for hormonal skin:
🌾 Beta glucan — activates your skin's natural recovery response. During perimenopause, declining estrogen reduces your skin's ability to self-repair. Beta glucan bridges that gap.
🧴 Ceramide essence — estrogen directly supports ceramide production. When estrogen dips, so does your barrier strength. This step is non-negotiable.
💧 Hydrating toner pads (like Biodance) — toner pads left on as mini-masks = skin flooding. Maximum hydration delivery to depleted hormonal skin.
👁️ Eye masks + face mask — the pause your nervous system AND your skin needs.
⚡ Growth factors — signal skin cells to renew. As we age, cellular turnover slows dramatically. Growth factors are one of the most research-backed ingredients for mature skin.
💜 B5 (panthenol) recovery cream — panthenol is a humectant AND film-former. It draws water in AND seals it. For dry, hormonally depleted skin, this is the ultimate final step.

One thing I don't do here is gatekeep, so let's talk about why my skin has felt drier lately, not just on my face!
Estrogen is the hormone behind soft, supple, collagen-producing skin. When it drops in perimenopause, we lose that everywhere — legs, arms, chest, not just the face people usually talk about.
This week I switched from my regular body wash to a lipid-replenishing shower oil, and my skin has felt noticeably softer.
Understanding the ingredients in your products makes ALL THE DIFFERENCE in your skin, I promise you that!

If you're not exfoliating regularly and you're over 40, your working against your skin, but it's not your fault.
Here's what changed: your cell turnover used to refresh roughly every 28 days. In perimenopause, that can stretch to 45, 60, even 90 days. Dead skin cells pile up longer than they ever did in your 30s. That's the dullness! That's the rough texture you can't seem to fix with more moisturizer!
So I did an a chemical peel, a mandelic acid peel to be exact. And before you panic at the word "chemical," let me explain why it's actually one of the gentler options!
Mandelic Acid has a larger molecule than something like Glycolic Acid. That means it sits on the surface of your skin instead of driving down deep. It exfoliates without the aggression. Gentle enough to do weekly or every other week, and you can rotate it with your other treatments. I likely won't even peel from it.
But here's the part most people skip: Mandelic Acid being gentle doesn't mean it's your answer... The right exfoliant depends entirely on your skin's barrier health, your sensitivity, and where your hormones are right now. What glows one woman's skin can wreck another's!
Glowing skin comes down to three things: exfoliate, hydrate, and actually know which products your skin wants. That last one is where everyone gets stuck.

My ducks are absolutely not in a row.
Some are on fire. One is missing. And I'm fairly sure one of them is just a tired pigeon at this point.
That's perimenopause for you. But here's the part nobody warned me about: it didn't just come for my mood, my memory, and my sleep. It came for my face.
My skin started acting like someone I'd never met. Dry and tight one morning, breaking out along my jaw the next. Products I'd used happily for ten years suddenly stung or made me red.
For a while I thought I was doing something wrong. I wasn't. Here's what's actually happening: as estrogen declines in perimenopause, your skin barrier thins, oil production drops, and collagen starts breaking down faster.
The routine that worked at 35 was never built for the skin you have now. Nobody tells us this — the beauty industry is too busy marketing to 25-year-olds.
So I built the guide I wish someone had handed me.
