As many of you know, I’ve been working on stepping up my barbering by working at a barbershop part time to hone in on some skills. While I’m still there, and still encourage any new Deep South clients to continue seeing me there, I’ve taken not only some skills but fresh ideas to elevate the experience in my chair. Between some things I’ve picked up at the shop as well as others I’ve noticed my barber do during my own services, I’ve curated The Signature Grooming Experience designed to reset, relax, and recharge during your haircut appointment. I’ll be offering this upgrade complimentary during January for new and existing clients but will soon become its own standalone service available for booking.

The Signature Difference:
-shampoo and scalp massage using with menthol and charcoal
-custom haircut
-back of neck shave (preshave oil and hot neck towel, lather, razor shave, cooling towel, and after shave lotion)
-a true moment of relaxation with a full hot towel face wrap infused with bergamot and sandalwood
-a gentle power massager along the neck and shoulders while the face wrap cools
-finished with a blow dry and style

Of course regular barber haircut appointments will still be available, but I wanted to introduce a truly rejuvenating and spa-like moment for the short hair gang.

In order to protect my time, availability, and small business, I’ll be implementing the following cancellation policy;

-Cancellations with less than 48 hours notice will incur a 50% of service cancellation fee.
-Cancellations with less than 24 hours notice will incur a 100% of service cancellation fee.

Cancellation fees must be paid prior to booking any future appointments.

Sometimes I forget to take a picture until my client is literally half way down the sidewalk and I chase them down because the bob is bobbing and the blonde is blending and it hurts to watch it walk away. So while I was apprehensive about even posting this one, it’s too good not to, despite the .alberta sign above her head and scaffolding all around us 🤷‍♀️

Yesterday, after 10 years of educating, I taught what I think was the largest class I’ve ever taught at the academy. Some hair besties like and .beauty showed up and normally where I’d feel pressure (considering both used to be educators and one used to be my boss), I felt at ease. It fed and fueled something in me I thought was burning out; a passion for standing in a room of stylists sharing what I know so we can all thrive and grow together. In a world of disarray and ugly, education brings us together to focus on a single goal. To be our best selves for our clients. The outside noise disappears for a few hours. There’s a feeling of community and togetherness and even though we’re technically competition of one another in a seemingly small industry, it never feels that way when we’re all teaching each other and learning from each other despite who’s standing in front of the classroom. I’ll always feel grateful for the path has laid out for me and I’m feeling more inspired than ever to take things to another level with competitions, collections, artistry, etc (manifesting with an accountability post maybe?) so buckle up and get ready 🤘

We all agreed color blocking is back, right? posted a series of diffused color blocks a while back and I’ve been so anxious to try something similar of my own. Imagine my delight when Lex told me to do whatever I wanted 🤘

We started by sectioning 4 asymmetric quadrants. Did a virgin lightening application on two of them then did a chocolate brown melt on the remaining sections before finishing with a natural beige toner giving us this mocha mousse teddy bear bronde but with some sass 🤩🧸

The meltiest blendiest blonde 😍 HOURS of work of foiling, tipping out and root shadowing got us this PERFECT blonde she can wear for the entire winter before we’ll hit it again next spring or summer, likely.

Starting my first day back with one of my dearest who’s been with me since the literal beginning of time is a sweet moment for me so here’s some pictures from when I was a baby stylist and she let me try new things on her. I remember when I did the double fringe on her (short blunt baby bang with a long textured fringe hanging over it with the red ombré) I thought I was a pure genius and it’s still a style I think of often. Now she’s married with kids and we only do haircuts but man oh man did she help me grow into a real hairstylist over the years. Can’t wait to see you this afternoon !
