Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well! I am sorry I have taken so long to update you all. Our life was hectic and scary at times with our baby girl Quinnley. She had tests done at 6 weeks old which we were always aware of. Those test came back that her left kidney function was not effective (we did know this but didn’t know how severe). What we also didn’t know until then is that her right kidney had a blockage that needed to be fixed right away. She went into the O.R that weekend for an emergency surgery to unblock the ureter valve and put a stint in. That then lead to a spiral of events and we ended up in the Alberta Children’s Hospital for the full month of October. After many things going wrong they decided to take Quinnley’s left kidney fully out as they think it was causing more issues then good. The original plan was to wait until she was stronger (6 months old). Looking back now, we are thankful that part is over with. Quinnley was so strong during her 7 trips to the O.R for her numerous procedures. We cannot thank the nurses and Dr’s enough for taking such amazing care and ‘fixing’ Quinnley. They are very special people and we definitely made some new lifelong relationships that we are so thankful for.
We got released and took our girl home November 1st knowing we had to take her back in for weekly blood tests to make sure her kidney was working and functioning well. We had a couple episodes of her not peeing and back to the hospital we’d go. She had the stint removed (right kidney) mid December and since then her blood work has been stable, thank God. Which means her kidney is functioning well! We are so blessed and happy seeing Quinnley so strong, growing and healthy. She now goes in for blood work once a month and she’ll be followed closely.
Thank you for all your support and prayers when we truly needed them. Hope to slowly get back into work as it is still a passion of mine and I miss seeing all of you!!
