What comes first — lip blush or lip filler? 💋

Many permanent makeup artists recommend starting with the procedure that lasts longer — in this case, lip blush. But here’s my take:

✨ If you have very thin lips, or even naturally shaped lips but with “purse-string” wrinkles, I recommend doing a little filler first. Once your lips are fully healed (about 4–6 weeks after injections), you can come back for your lip blush.

✨ If you’re planning to experiment with a bigger lip shape, I suggest starting with lip blush, then adding filler, and finally coming back for your lip blush touch-up after 4–6 weeks.

Everyone’s lips and goals are unique, which is why I always recommend a personalized approach. 💕

It might be hard to believe, but despite all the information out there explaining why PMU artists should not tattoo above the vermillion border, some still do—and clients continue to ask for it in hopes of making their lips look bigger through tattooing.

Here’s why we avoid that: once healed, pigment behaves differently on the lip tissue compared to the regular skin above the vermillion border. This is due to the difference in skin structure, which can cause uneven color results and an unnatural appearance.

The only exception is when we’re correcting asymmetry—such as in cases of scarring or structural imbalance—where going slightly above the vermillion border can help create a more balanced and symmetrical look, as shown in the photo on this post.
