Lip Flips 💉✨

Let’s talk neurotoxins, if you remember from my previous posts, I refer to the word neurotoxins, which is what Botox, Dysport, Nuceiva and Xeomin are- they’re all neurotoxins!

This beautiful client had a lip flip with Dysport. A lip flip is achieved with a few units that is injected into the vermillion border ( the lip line), this way it relaxes and allows more of the upper lip to show. As you can see from the before photo she has a thinner upper lip, which is completely normal, as we age, we lose volume in all places. In the after photo, the upper lip shows more and is more proportional to the lower lip.

This is an amazing alternative to those who are not ready to try lip filler yet. As you can see no volume is added to her lips, the upper lip is relaxed more so you can see more of it!

Let’s talk facial anatomy for a minute. 💉
It’s super important for injectors to really know and understand how the muscles move in the face to be able to treat them properly and accurately.

What’s causing us to have frown lines- or the “11s” as some people call it.

The Glabellar complex is made up of other muscles (swipe——————>) called
the Procerus which is responsible for contraction of this muscle and makes horizontal line- like a
minus "-“ sign on the top of the nose. It's presence also can cause a bulge in
the middle of the glabellar complex. There is an upper and lower portion to this
muscle which I usually like to inject, depending on how big it is on everyone. Then we have
the Corrugator supercilii muscle - which draws the eyebrow downward and
medialward. For many patients, there is a medial part and a lateral part. The
lateral part is located near and above the middle of the eyebrows also referred to as the corrugator tails. It is
located below the frontals muscle and higher than the obicularis oculi
muscle. It pulls the eyebrows down to a medial position. It helps to avoid
glare from the sun and depicts the expression of suffering, conflicted thought,
or anger (just in my opinion).
