We’re too powerful to be destroyed by government shut downs and heavy handed regulations over the pandemic. Resilient and beautiful, just like our clients! Here’s a photo of one of them who like clockwork spoils herself and spends her money on what’s important and that’s her.

DSLR camera was retired after being published by National Geographic so anything new will be on an old iPhone. We spin pure gold with our fingers and have over fifty years combined experience in this industry. We are the Industry and we will never die.

2021 - already an impressive year and it's only five days in.

11/30/2020

Been doing four or five day work weeks and spreading clients out as best we can during this peak season of the pandemic. Certainly more challenging but taking it in strides and more comfortable than ever providing an extremely safe environment. It's been nothing but practice and perseverance by this point.

December is going to be a very testing month for many Canadians. We're lucky enough to be able to work during this and have so many outside connections and conversations but there are many who do not.

Our job is different than most as we are hands on and close quarters for long lengths of time and we wouldn't have it any other way, pandemic or not. Which is why we do what we do and people keep coming in, trusting us.

We're all in this together - stay positive, be kind to each other and wear a mask.

10/28/2020

We have switched to a two day work week model right now. Masks both us and clients with self imposed strict cleaning protocols between sittings. Seems to be working very well. There has certainly been a loss of clientele due to Covid and our prices have reflected this. Which gladly no one still coming has issue paying as they have gone up a bit.

The Government shut down was hard for all business' affected and will continue to be difficult through this journey being re-opened again. But I can assure you that we take everyone's safety very seriously, including our own and are above all else professionals.

Much love to our past, current and future clients as without you we wouldn't be able to provide such an amazing service.

Our youngest is also getting 6/5 on everything English 12 is throwing at them right now doing home studies opting out of in-class for their Grade 12 year. 6/5 is classified as exceptional which I think we've been balancing as parents and business owners all this time.

Looking forward to a busy Holiday Season both at home and at work. We're all in this together.

Been having a ridiculously good experience going to work during a Pandemic.

Guess it's in my own environment and I'm in complete control...but, ya know.

06/05/2020

Spent hundreds and hundreds on hard to find in an epidemic cleaners and added safety precautions. We have all the good ones now - the best ones actually. More capes, towels, etc., as well. It's all hard to source right now - took some time.

Trying to make the most Vancouver Island Covid-19 friendly zone we can and had a soft opening start as we iron things out these last few days.

Much love to those who've been in so far and to those to come.

Rules and regulations are a grey area on masks. So far we're making it masks are not mandatory for clients - your decision. We have two types available if wanted at $5 or $10. Have not had a client wear a mask yet - their decision.

We (as service providers) are switching between masks or face shields - not Govt mandatory - and may take them off again if numbers stay low on the Isle.

This is most certainly a come at your own discretion service right now. No pressure at all. But we absolutely must protect our environment (studio) we have created and be there to keep it going.

I personally feel safe around my people - especially given that we're on Vancouver Island and doing so amazing. But if you do not, that's fine. That was a hard run of scarifying and it is not over yet.

Prices have gone up a tiny bit to try and recoup running at such a slow pace - sorry for that - but we are happy to be back regardless and looking forward to making 2020 a little brighter.

As it stands, Phase 2 is slated to begin May 19th. Hairdressers are included in Phase 2 but the Provincial Stop Order for salons is still in place till the end of the month from Dr. Bonnie Henry. WorkSafeBC has given as much info as they are giving on the subject as of today and are now pushing it on the related health authorities/regional boards to make final decisions and measures.

There is a chance salons will be able to return to work on the 19th if the order is lifted, but no one knows for certain - regardless of what other Salons may say.

We have been readying ourselves for the return to work as best we can with a shortage of needed supplies nationwide and although I feel confident we can provide as safe an environment as we can, there is no 100% safety during this current situation. In truth it's not that far off from how we normally operate. But there will certainly be an added protocol that will slow down our ability to provide services. Which may mean more days worked with less clients per day I am imagining.

Considering having elderly and those with weakened immune systems come in first, then move to front line essential workers, then to everyone else (as wonderful as the first ones) as we try and gain our momentum in a different environment.

Keep in mind as a salon and a clientele bubble we did already weather an unseen storm together as the virus was present before the shut down order - so I think we've all done pretty well collectively as a team.

Past that we will all continue to be as safe as we can inside and outside of the salon so that we can all enjoy being in the salon - together, but apart.

Us being the link. The Mine Canary's. So please continue to practice safe measures while some front line business' are opened back up again as our health rests in your collective hands due to our proximity to the public.

Will update further as informed, miss you all.
