'Tis the season of tea.... one of the best way to get the benefits of herbalism is with tea. This one is in my regular arsenal- "moon time tea". It helps manage cycles targeting specifically the menstruation time of the cycle.
Chai Tea as a whole has a lot of health benefits. Just to name a few:
-Star Anise is anti-fungal, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory. It also reduces the symptoms of depression and menopause. Helps break down carbohydrates and has a role in regulating blood sugar levels.
-Green Cardamom is a mood booster and antidepressant, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, helps with digestive issues, helps assist breathing and oxygen use.
-All Spice is an anti-inflammatory, digestive aid, immunity booster, antioxidant, improves circulation.
-Whole cloves are full of antioxidants, helps promote liver function, a good source of manganese, vitamin k, potassium and eugenol.
-Cinnamon is anti-viral, antibacterial, anti-fungal, may help with brain health, gut health and blood sugars.
-Ginger contains gingerol which has its own list of health benefits and can be used to aid digestion, anti-inflammatory, reduce oxidative stress, lower blood sugars and help with indigestion.
All the ingredients are just a quick list of health benefits not the complete list. But chai tea is a wonderful beverage that is extremely beneficial to drink! However the store or coffee shop version is not so great for you, it's full of additives and ingredients that are worse for your body. When the store comes live we will have a chai tea kit so you can make it at home and know that you are not only getting an amazing tea but one that you know you can keep drinking all day as a healthy alternative (if you go with the decaf of course).

Food for thought Friday: Everyone knows big corporations are looking to make the most money possible and generally speaking if consumers are willing to buy it they don't usually care about what's in it or if it's harmful. People want cheap, companies look for the cheapest products. This goes for any big business including pharmaceutical.

Mullein is a truly amazing herb. When we get sick it's the first thing I grab and I always have it on hand!

An interesting fact about us: We have a bad problem of rescuing animals. As it has been said many times: I attract broken things.
Even if I get an animal thinking this one won't have an issue it will be great- nope it comes here and shows me all its problems.

Let me introduce to you the two that truly created the apothecary side of the farm.
Apache is a 20 year old appendix who last year was diagnosed with a rare liver disease. I treated him with a few different herbal supplements focusing on detox, immunity and liver protection and now he is keeping on weight beautifully, full of s***k and keeps on improving.
Whiskey is a 6 year old believed to be mustang cross. His start wasn't so great in life. After he came here no one could catch him and he was in full blown flight mode. He was treated focusing on detox, immunity and internal infections for bacteria and parasites. He has come a long way but has a long way to go still. We would be much further but unfortunately time keeps going faster than I can keep up.
These two though and my dear friend at Healing Hands Equine have truly brought home the power of herbal medicine and the wonderful things it can do!
