A little history on my Mini Me :)

Amanda started her working life at the age of 14 making Pizza after school and on weekends! Can you believe that?!! It wasn't a casual position, this was a full part time job she took on. Why you ask? She wanted to buy a car to work on and fix up!! From that time on she worked through her high school years having at times, not just 1 job, but many times 2 part time jobs!

When she finally turned 18 I brought her to the "Patch" with me!! Lol and so the days of having to work 2 jobs to get the money she wanted were over!! Amanda loved this new world! She became 1 of many women be to honored with the Title of Non-Ticketed Journeyman - Tuber. ( Unfortunately, these titles are now stripped from the criteria in the field).
When her little Brother turned 18 ( 1 week after to be exact!) She brought him to the Patch, and that's where his Story starts!
From the "Patch" she went to Coal! Haha!! Conquering the age old " Girls don't have a Place" was her drive!! Amanda drove Rock Truck for Teck Coal (Fording) and became a Recruiting Ambassador for Woman!

While doing these jobs Amanda became a Momma to 3 amazing boys!

While loving these jobs, Amanda decided to try on a different hat! Business Owner!

Every once in awhile, the itch to "Get in there, bend pipe, make baskets, do pressure tests" is too great to let pass ... Thank God she brought her Little Brother into the Patch all those years ago,... because now He owns a couple companies where she can jump in, get her hands dirty, have her fill ... and come back out!

Today’s Lesson: Why do my legs take longer to tan?

If you’ve ever wondered why your legs seem to be the last part of your body to develop colour, you’re not imagining it. There’s actually science behind it.

• Your legs naturally have fewer melanocytes. These are the cells responsible for producing melanin, the pigment that creates your tan. With fewer melanocytes, your legs simply produce colour more slowly.

• Blood circulation is lower in your legs. Compared to your upper body, your legs receive less blood flow, which can slow your skin’s tanning response.

• The skin on your legs is often drier. Dry skin doesn’t tan as efficiently and sheds dead skin cells more quickly, making it harder to achieve and maintain an even, long-lasting tan.

How can you help your legs tan more evenly?

• Exfoliate 24 hours before tanning to remove dead skin cells.
• Moisturize daily to keep your skin healthy and hydrated.
• Stay consistent with your tanning schedule. Your legs often need a little more patience than the rest of your body.
• Use a leg tanning lotion. Yes, they’re a real thing! Leg lotions are specially formulated to help boost colour development in the most stubborn area to tan while also providing the extra hydration your legs need.

A slower tan doesn’t mean something is wrong. It simply means your legs need a little extra care, hydration, and consistency.

After a weekend spent enjoying Alberta’s summer sunshine, your skin deserves just as much attention as the rest of you.

Here are three simple ways to help it recover, replenish, and thrive:

• Hydrate from the Inside Out. Sunshine, heat, and Alberta’s dry climate can leave your skin thirsty long before you feel it. Staying well hydrated supports your skin’s elasticity, strengthens its natural protective barrier, and helps maintain that healthy, radiant glow.

• Feed Your Skin Daily. Your skin is your body’s largest organ, and it works hard every single day to protect you. A quality moisturizer does far more than extend the life of your tan. It replenishes lost hydration, reinforces your skin barrier, and nourishes your skin after everyday exposure to the elements.

• Choose Controlled Exposure. Summer often means more time outdoors, where UV exposure can be unpredictable. Continuing with professionally timed indoor tanning sessions between outdoor activities allows your exposure to be monitored according to your skin type and tanning schedule, helping you avoid the “all or nothing” approach that can happen with long, unplanned days in the sun. Consistency and moderation are always kinder to your skin than overexposure.

The Takeaway

Healthy skin isn’t built overnight. It’s the result of small, consistent habits that protect, nourish, and support your skin every single day. When your skin is healthy, your glow naturally follows.

Western Canada’s Largest Truck Show officially kicks off TODAY, and it’s shaping up to be the biggest Out West Truck Fest yet.

Held at Pioneer Acres just outside of Irricana, this two day event is packed with something for everyone, whether you’re a truck enthusiast or just looking for an awesome family outing.

This weekend you’ll find:

• Historic museum buildings open to explore

At The Bronze Bar, we absolutely love celebrating local people doing incredible things, and this event is especially close to our hearts. My brother Tyler and my sister-in-law Shayla, two of the founders, have been part of the group from the very beginning, turning an idea into what is now Western Canada’s Largest Truck Show, and continuing to make it a better experience each and every year they host it. Watching what they’ve built alongside an incredible team over the years has been amazing, and we couldn’t be prouder to cheer them on this weekend.
