🚨 FREE SKIN CANCER SCREENINGS COMING TO P.E.I. THIS AUGUST

A mobile clinic is set to visit the Island this summer, offering free checks for melanoma and other skin cancers.

A travelling clinic known as the “Mole Mobile” will be coming to Prince Edward Island in August, giving Islanders access to on-site skin cancer screenings.

The initiative is run by Melanoma Canada and brings licensed dermatologists directly into communities.

📊 Why it matters

Access to dermatologists remains limited, especially outside larger cities. P.E.I. currently has only a small number of specialists, which can make it harder for people to get suspicious moles checked quickly.

The goal of the mobile clinic is to catch potential skin cancers earlier, when treatment is more effective.

📈 The numbers

Last year, the program screened thousands of people across the country and identified over 200 melanoma cases.

Health experts say early detection can make a major difference, as melanoma can become life-threatening if not caught in time.

The screenings are quick assessments done using specialized tools that allow doctors to examine beneath the skin’s surface.

If something concerning is found, patients are advised to follow up with a doctor or specialist for further testing or treatment.
