9 years ago today I opened Rivers Edge… and I had no idea what I was actually building.
I thought I was building a career.
A full schedule.
A “successful” business.
And for a long time… I had all of that.
I started Rivers Edge before I was a wife.
Before I was a mom.
Before the world changed.
All of those things have shaped me into the woman I am today and continue to shape the space I’ve created:
Rivers Edge Hair + Wellness.
A space built on integrity.
Real customer service.
Compassion.
A place where you walk out feeling revitalized.
Blending hair + wellness has been a dream come true…
something we didn’t even realize we were missing.
I’m beyond proud of the evolution of Rivers Edge, and so grateful to continue growing what we’re building here.
One day at a time.
Rivers Edge… you’re one of the good ones. 🤍

Ok so some of you may have noticed I was sliding education for hairstylists on to this page for a hot moment…
Honestly I was struggling with mixed messaging, this page is supposed to be for my clients and my future clients. It felt weird.
Sooo I decided to make a new page .co
For my education side of things.
If you enjoy a little hairstylist education content give me a follow ☺️ if not, I’ve got you babe, right here.

I’ve been doing her hair for 26 years.
Since we were about 12 years old.
Some clients become friends.
Some friends become lifelong clients.
Over the last while we’ve been on a bit of a hair healing journey — focusing on strength, integrity, and patience so we could eventually bring back her signature bright blonde.
Moments like this remind me that hair isn’t just hair.
It’s trust.
It’s history.
It’s years of conversations, life updates, and growing up together.
She was one of my very first clients… and somehow all these years later, she still lets me play with her hair.
That kind of loyalty is something I never take lightly.
Grateful for the full circle moments behind the chair ✨

You don’t need another “charge your worth” pep talk.
You need math.
Inside my program, I give you a pricing calculator that tells you exactly where you should be priced based on:
• Your demand (new client requests + weeks booked out)
• Your local household income
• Your service timing
• Your product costs
• Your schedule capacity
It removes emotion.
It removes guessing.
It removes copying the salon down the street.
It tells you whether you’re:
• Underpriced and leaving money on the table
• Overpriced for your current demand
• Or perfectly aligned and ready to scale
And then the other modules teach you how to:
• Build a client experience that increases retention
• Create structure so you’re consistently booked
• Communicate value confidently
• Stop relying on hustle or hope
This isn’t about being the most talented stylist.
It’s about being structured, strategic, and sustainable.
If you want your pricing calculated properly and your books filled intentionally — comment CALCULATE or DM me and I’ll send details.

This is what long-term thinking looks like.
We’re not “covering greys.”
We’re not doing a drastic transformation.
We’re blending.
Softening.
Creating a plan.
She’s growing out years of solid colour and allowing her natural grey to come through — and instead of a harsh line every 4 weeks, we’re using strategic foiling to diffuse that grow out so it feels intentional.
This is slower.
More technical.
More customized.
And here’s the part no one talks about…
Work like this doesn’t come from guessing.
It doesn’t come from copying the salon down the street.
And it definitely doesn’t come from panic pricing.
It comes from structure.
From knowing your numbers.
From understanding your demand.
From building a client base that trusts your long-term vision.
When your pricing is aligned and backed by math, you get to recommend plans like this with confidence.
No discounting.
No overbooking.
No explaining yourself.
Just clear strategy — in the hair and in the business.
This is what I teach inside my program.
How to build demand.
How to price in alignment with your market.
How to create a schedule that fills because it’s structured — not because you’re exhausted.
Fully booked isn’t chaos.
It’s clarity.

Clients often ask, what’s your favourite thing to do?
The truth is I don’t have one favourite thing to do…
If you’re asking what truly lights me up behind the chair? It could be a cut, it could be grey blending, blonding, toning. It could’ve anyone of these things or a combination of all of the above.
What actually lights me up is achieving your goals, blowing your mind with simple adjustments that make big impact. Teaching you a simple trick for styling with ease. Allowing you to see the natural beauty in your hair and teaching you exactly how to lean into that natural beauty.
In a world full of fillers, Botox, extensions, I choose to see the natural beauty. I choose to lean into that. I choose to blend, not hide.
Those pesky greys you see coming in are not something to be ashamed of. They were earned and show every bit of wisdom you have to give.
When you sit in my chair my goal is to show you how less can be so much more if you move with intention.

For a long time, pricing in our industry looked like this:
You look around at the salons near you.
You check what others are charging.
You decide what you want to make per hour.
Then came the “charge your worth” era — which, if we’re being honest, left a lot of stylists wildly overpriced for their actual demand and the average household income of their clientele.
Not because they weren’t talented. But because pricing without context creates pressure — on you and your clients.
Everything shifted for me when I started using a pricing calculator through an education program. It was the first time my prices were backed by math, not emotion or comparison.
Suddenly I felt secure.
My clients felt secure.
There was no second-guessing, no awkward energy, no wondering if I was “too much” or “not enough.”
I knew I was priced appropriately because my pricing was aligned with my demand and my area.
That calculator helped me immensely — and it also showed me what was missing.
There were key factors in my business that weren’t being accounted for… factors that matter deeply when you want sustainability, not just higher numbers on a price list.
That’s what inspired me to create The Ethical Pricing Index.
Not to reinvent the wheel — but to refine it.
To build something that reflects real salon life, real demand, and real markets.
Pricing shouldn’t feel like a guess.
And it definitely shouldn’t feel like a gamble.
It should feel solid, supported, and ethical — for you and the people sitting in your chair.
I built this for stylists who want clarity, not comparison.

You don’t need to work every Saturday or 10–12 hour days to make this career work.
I used to believe that was just part of it. Five days a week. Two evenings. Weekends. Always squeezing one more client in.
Now?
I don’t work weekends at all.
I work one evening a week — because I want to, not because I have to.
I work 3–4 days a week.
No double booking.
No rushing.
And my business finally feels aligned with the life I want — not the hours I used to survive.
What changed wasn’t luck or a viral moment.
It was how I priced. How I structured my days.
And how intentional the client experience became.
This industry doesn’t require burnout. It requires clarity.
If you’re exhausted but still “busy,” there’s another way to do this — and it doesn’t ask you to give more of yourself.

For a long time, pricing felt… personal.
Like something I had to justify or brace myself for.
That changed when I stopped guessing and started calculating.
My pricing isn’t based on what the salon down the street charges. It’s not based on what I hope to make.
And it’s definitely not pulled out of thin air.
It’s built on real factors:
• average household income
• my demand
• my costs
• and the experience I consistently deliver
That clarity changed everything.
Now, when pricing ever comes up (which honestly is rare), it’s a grounded, supportive conversation — not a negotiation.
Clients feel the confidence. They feel the professionalism. And most importantly, they feel respected — not sold to.
This is exactly why I built the pricing index inside my work. So stylists can stop carrying emotional weight around numbers and start standing on math, structure, and self-trust.
Confidence doesn’t come from charging more.
It comes from knowing why your prices are what they are.
