Rethinking Osteoarthritis ā More Than Just āWear and Tearā
There is hope for your sore, stiff joints.
If youāve been told your joint pain is ājust wear and tear,ā youāre not alone. For years, thatās how osteoarthritis (OA) was explained. But today we know something important ā OA is not just about cartilage breaking down. Itās also about inflammation, nerve sensitivity, and the way your body responds to stress and injury.
This is good news, because it means there are more ways to help.
Hereās what happens in OA:
Joints become irritated by low-grade inflammation.
The immune system sends out signals that keep nerves extra sensitive.
Pain often feels bigger than what X-rays or scans show.
Hereās how RAPID can help:
Our techniques briefly stir up local inflammation in a controlled way. This helps flush out the irritating chemicals that keep pain signals firing.
RAPID stimulates the release of Substance P, a natural messenger that helps reprogram immune cells from āstuck in inflammationā mode into āhealingā mode.
It also interacts with your nervous system to calm pain sensitivity, helping you feel relief that lasts.
In other words, RAPID doesnāt just chase symptoms. It works with your bodyās own healing systems to reduce pain, improve movement, and give you back the freedom you deserve.
If joint pain has been holding you back, you donāt have to accept it as your ānew normal.ā Together, we can change the story.

Regular massage therapy can also be helpful with some of this stuff, this is why I will combine lymphatic work with myofascial release, Rapid NFR, cupping, IASTM, Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) techniques and some of the other techniques Iāve learned. This has to be specific because if done in the incorrect order or combinations it will not be as effective as it should be!
I carefully plan your treatments specifically for you so that YOU are getting the best massage experience possible!

This is SO important folks!
If nutrients canāt get in or wastes canāt get out, you stay inflamed.
Think blood flow and lymphatics.
Think Movement + hydration + diaphragmatic breathing.
Add in lymphatic massage to improve it even more. Did you know that during a lymphatic massage we can help to reroute lymph if there is an area that is low / non functioning.
The goal is not only to optimize healing, health and wellbeing, but to help you THRIVE!

Struggling to get a good nightās sleep? Thereās a massage for that! š“
Iāve got you!
Booking link in bio.
In the meantime, here are some tips for getting a restful sleep:
No screens 1 - 2 hours before bedtime.
Sleep in a cool and dark room, use a sleep mask if you like.
Try a warm bath before bed.
Donāt eat close to bedtime, if you must, eat easy to digest food.
Go for an evening walk outside (at sunset if possible).
Go outside in the morning to get some morning sun (5-30 min).
Exercise during the day.
Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
Dim the lights or use lamps / avoid bright lights in the evening + during the night (especially between 11pm and 2am). I love the salt lamp night lights for the bathroom.
Fun fact: many of these tips (along with a good nightās sleep) also support your mitochondrial health!

IAST what?ā¦..
IASTM - Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Manipulation.
We often think that these tools mechanically:
⢠Break up scar tissue
⢠Remove adhesions
ā¢Release knots
But they actually work with your nervous system by:
⢠Stimulating the nervous system to alter tissue tone.
The goal -> Stimulate your nervous system to alter tissue for a desired outcome
A better name might be IANSM: INSTRUMENT ASSISTED NEUROSENSORY MODULATION.
So yes, IASTM can definitely help with scar tissue, adhesions and tight tissues, but it MUST work via your nervous system, hence the importance of proper training for manual therapistsš.
As an RMT using IASTM, itās important that the technique is soft, even though the tools are hard.
