To our clients: Happy Mother’s day

And in honour of Mother’s day, we would like to write a little something today about who we are, our salon and the woman who built it.
Our mother, Nola, started cutting hair in 1999. Through the years she perfected her craft working and learning from others, until finally in 2010 she opened her own shop - Nolas Trendsetters.
Nola named the shop after her daughter, Alisha’s, achievement of getting the trendsetter award in high school.
Two years later in 2012, Alisha started working with her mother at the shop as a shampoo girl. What started as a small summer job turned into a life long career as Alisha did apprenticeship and certification to be able to work next to her mom.
Shortly after, Nolas other daughter Melissa came back to Corner Brook and also began working with her mom. For many years it was a mom and her two daughters working happily in the beautiful shop she created.
Last year in October 2025, Nola received a bad health diagnosis and had to stop work immediately. That was her last time in the salon - as she was then admitted to palliative care in early December and stayed there until she went home to the Lord in late February.
While in hospital Nola still did all of the business bookwork, posted advertisements online, and even volunteered to help the nurse team with their piercing problems. What a workaholic! Lol. But that is who she was, she loved her clients, her work and loved her shop.
Our mom is gone from this earth but her legacy continues to live on. We kept her salon running while she was unwell, and we will continue to keep it going now. We aim to provide you with the same friendly service that she did. She left very big shoes to fill and we will spend the rest of our lives trying to.
We thank you all very much for your support during the last 7 difficult months and having patience with us as we navigated through this hard time.
We appreciate each and everyone one of you and we look forward to seeing you back at the shop! ❤️
