It is with great sadness that I announce the end of the era of Olivier The Barber.
At the end of April 2026, my family and I will be relocating to the eastern townships and I will be closing my studio indefinitely.
Although the timing may feel fast, this decision has been years in the making. After a lot of reflection, prayer, and honest conversations, we know this is the right next step for our family.
For almost 9 years, my barber chair has been more than just a space for haircuts. It has been a place for authenticity and real conversations — about business, marriage, fatherhood, pressure, purpose, mistakes, ambition, and growth. At times I challenged you, and at other times you challenged me.
Along with your hair and beards, in many ways we’ve also personally grown together.
Except for those of you whose bald era is on its way. 😉
Jokes aside, I don’t take lightly the trust you placed in me — not just with your appearance, but with your thoughts, frustrations, and goals.
From the early days of Les Barbares, to my first and second studio in Vieux La Prairie, and now my fatherhood era in Carignan — wherever our paths crossed — being a steady presence in your routine has truly been an honour.
This move represents growth and alignment for my family, but it also means stepping away from something deeply meaningful to me.
My last official day will be April 18th, 2026.
Until then, I have opened my schedule Tuesday–Friday from 9am–5pm, with 12pm now available, and every Saturday from 9am–1pm.
There will also be a new limited service option: hair & beard + a 15-minute face, neck, and head massage.
So don’t be shy to come get your last haircuts, beard trims, and migraine-ending head massages from yours truly before they’re gone for good.
Thank you for the loyalty.
Thank you for the consistency.
Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey.
I’m proud of what we’ve built over the years, and I’m grateful for every one of you.
With respect,
Olivier

I never thought alcohol would control my life the way it did. It started small—just drinking to unwind. But over the years, alcohol became my main way to deal with stress, anger, and disappointment. It wasn’t until I saw how much it was affecting my marriage and my sense of self-worth that I knew I had to stop. Now, over a year sober, I’m more present in every moment and more connected to my emotions than ever before.

Looking back, I didn’t fully grasp how crucial it was to develop myself during my younger years, especially considering my prefrontal cortex was still maturing. Between the ages of 14 and 21, I was more driven by impulses and instant gratification, whether it was through alcohol or po*******hy, without realizing that my brain was wired to be more susceptible to these urges during this time. I didn’t understand the long-term impact of focusing on personal growth, building meaningful friendships, or seeking out mentorship. Instead, I was more invested in “play” and momentary pleasures, unaware that this lack of focus on deeper, more enriching pursuits would eventually hold me back in ways I’d later realize. Now, I see how investing in myself and nurturing real relationships during those formative years could have set me up for a more balanced and fulfilling future.

A great haircut is all about showing up as the best version of yourself. It’s the little confidence boost that makes you feel put-together and ready to take on whatever comes your way. When you feel good about how you look, it shows in everything you do—from the way you carry yourself to the way you tackle your day. A fresh cut is more than just a style update; it’s your way of saying, “I’m ready for what’s next.”…

Recognizing and understanding my emotions has been a challenging journey…. 🥲
In 2025, I experienced unprecedented levels of anger. Becoming a father introduced immense pressure to excel as both a husband and a dad, leading me to neglect my own emotional needs. This neglect resulted in profound loneliness, sadness, shame, and guilt, which I suppressed rather than confronting. This emotional suppression created a volatile mix that often erupted as anger.
Eventually, I acknowledged that my anger was spiraling out of control. Opening up to my wife about my struggles allowed us to co-regulate and address the underlying issues. Recognizing the damage caused and the hurt I had inflicted upon her, I understood the importance of giving her time to process and offering sincere apologies. This process of making amends fostered accountability and became a catalyst for personal growth in my emotional intelligence.
