Spa-Da

This smells exactly like an apple pie. Apples, sugar, and a buttery pie crust. I'm enjoying rebatching soap. It's fun to make a huge, unscented batch without any scent that you can grate down for making different rebatch soaps. I make 2 pound batches at a time whenever the desire hits. I've made banana cream and this apple pie soaps. There's nothing to it, except to melt the gratings into a crockpot with a splash of water and add fragrance once it is the texture of apple sauce.

"Down by the hay" soap

Just made some fresh soap yesterday scented cinnamon vanilla cream. I thought it would turn out a disaster because the soap was a few degrees too hot which caused it to get too thick with one short burst of of the electric stick blender. Stick blenders are used to thicken soap faster so it doesn't take hours of hand stirring. If I didn't hand blend it then, I would have been left with a giant soap rock. It went so thick I could barely stir in colourants and fragrances. That carpal tunnel did not like me one bit during this hand breaking phase! I managed to glob it in the moulds and with a lot of force to thwart this effort into a success...I slammed these moulds down onto my workspace so hard I near started an earthquake to bind this blobby mess! And here we are, to my surprise, a SLAMMING success that reflects the wrist breaking, arm muscle mixing persistence I couldn't back down from!
It came together perfect with no gaps between globs. I'm surprised I didn't break the table. But it worked, all the globs sandwiched together great.
I also got to use my new multi bar soap cutter for the first time and the bars are perfectly cut to size. Free-hand cutting was always a curvy slide down with the knife no matter how precise I was. Soap slides fast as you cut it. You've seen how soap slips out of your hands and how hard sometimes it can be to catch it, well this is how soap cutting is too when it's on the softer side before it cures. A soap cutter is an absolute necessity for me.
The colours are pretty I think, and the beige and cream colours give me a creamy feeling. The calendula flowers on top hide any funky texture and make it look a little more appealing. I formed the steeple top by piling soap up and putting some plastic wrap on top that I moulded into a triangle shape with my hands.

Hi there, I've got some plans and preparations done for a new soap. I watched youtube video today from a reputable soap maker, and discovered that cinnamon essential oil should not be used in any kind of soap! I've seen lots of soap makers make this soap. I furthered researched that you should not use more than 0.5 percent or less of your total recipe. This youtuber said to never use it at all as it's not skin safe to use in products and will burn skin. It is very spicy.

Certain oils you have to be mindful with, like peppermint. This oil is nice for soap but once again the content is best at a measure for a mildly scented bar because you put this on your skin and it will feel like a cooling burn- like sensation on skin. In a bath, personally, I think it's not the best idea to be lathering up with peppermint, for more sensitive areas where that burn-like feeling wont be appreciated!
