Part 2 on comparing early 2000s hair vs 2023 hair. I've literally had someone say well my hair appointments used to be a lot cheaper and faster in 2003 compared to now. There are many reasons why hair today is more expensive, but I think the video speaks for itself on the look. Hair in the 2000s was a lot of bad placements, chunky, brassy colors, untoned, un rooted, not as flattering, only highlighted on the top and dark underneath, they were not as many steps to finish the look and did not give longevity to highlights. Not to mention that was 20 years ago, products cost more, cost of living is much higher and there is a lot more skills that goes into hair services today, therefore hair appointments should cost more! Hair in 2023 has better product technology, better techniques and more steps to give a complimentary highlight/color with a lot of longevity= VALUE! now you can go 3-6 months depending on your service as opposed to 6-8 weeks in the early 2000's. Root shadows soften stark highlights and are the key to longevity. I also have masterd proper placement and teasylights, Babylights and air touch to blend in their own many times. We started making more of the lightness on the mids and ends which just looks better but requires tip outs, balayage or foilyage in combination with some blonde at the roots. This adds more time. THIS IS WHY you should ALWAYS start at the bottom of you’re hair while brushing. When you start at the top it will take the tangles and pack them together and make it worse 🥲🥲 where if you start at the bottom it will slowly unwind the tangle!!
