Pain isn’t the point of a cold plunge, and it never has been.
At Circa, most cold rounds only last a minute or two. Short on purpose, because staying regulated builds resilience more than pushing through discomfort ever will.
Follow along as we build a thermal studio Edmonton can return to every week.
We’re not trying to build something people visit once and forget. We want Circa to be part of the rhythm of your week, the same way a standing dinner with friends is.
A place where showing up enough times means you’re not a stranger in the room anymore.
That’s the kind of belonging we’re working toward. Slowly, and on purpose.
What would make a place feel like it’s actually yours?
On August 7th, we brought the mobile sauna to Glendale Golf & Country Club for an evening built around heat, water, and good company. No agenda beyond showing up and feeling the shift together.
This is part of why the mobile sauna exists: to bring the experience to Edmonton before Edmonton comes to us. Every stop teaches us something new about how this city gathers, unwinds, and returns to itself.

The two people who couldn't stop talking about social saunas long enough to build one. Marissa and Kevin are the founders behind Circa Thermal Studio, opening in Southwest Edmonton in early 2027.
Coming off the pandemic, we were living in Toronto, working in tech, building a business, and completing a master’s degree. The world was demanding more and more from us, and
we were barely keeping up.
We craved connection; with each other, with others, and with ourselves. In the little downtime we had, we would drive an hour and half out to experience nearby spas and rest for the week ahead. It quickly became part of our weekly routine. A place we could go to socialize with friends or colleagues that didn’t revolve around alcohol. A place we could go inward for 60-minutes without
needing to commit to a full spa day.
Over time, we kept coming back to the same idea: Edmonton also needed a place built around slowing down. This was the start of Circa. Life brought us back to Edmonton. On June 7th, we launched our pop-up sauna in Edmonton - a mobile wood burning sauna fit for 10-12 people, built inside a 16ft trailer.
Months in and so much love has come our way! And we are just getting started. Follow along on our journey to turn Circa into a Nordic retreat right here in Edmonton.

August feels like a turning point.
For the first time, we’re not just talking about what Circa will become. We’re building it.
This month we’ll pick up the keys to our permanent home, break ground on construction, bring sauna to communities across Edmonton, celebrate runners, gather with friends, and share our first look inside the space with the people who’ve believed in us from the beginning.
