Posted • When you look at the orange and russet coloured eyebrows in this photo, this is non-organic iron oxide pigments that have faded
Maybe the technician choose a colour that had too much red in it for the client skin colouring, or maybe it was a poor pigment range or colour blend
Did you know that any implanted pigment molecules will remain in the skin forever? It's just their colour that fades and changes, the structure of the pigment molecule can not remain perfect forever
Oxidation is the interaction between pigment and a client's skin
You know how some people can wear gold and silver, and other people can't without skin going black or green, that's oxidation. And when we put foundation on in the morning, and have chosen the wrong colour, it can look a completely different colour in a couple of hours reacting to the acids on our skin
And that's just with something on the skin. What about when things are put in the skin
Non-organic iron oxide pigments have typically been used for cosmetic tattooing since the 1980s. Foundations are shades of yellow, red and beige, so are tattoo pigments!
Once the colour starts to fade they change, and not always to a good colour like the brows you see here. These visible signs of pigment degradation I call skin stain
This is very important and a fundamental knowledge to have for cosmetic tattooing. Skin stain is no longer colour in the pigment molecules. The colour has actually seeped out and stained the skin
You'll always hear that orange, red and russet coloured brows are the hardest to remove, because now it's stained skin that needs to be removed, not just pigment molecules
Historically laser tattoo removal was not used to remove cosmetic tattoos. Laser cannot work on what is perceived to be the orange red or russet pigment when it is in fact skin stain. Laser is focused on removing tattoo pigment rather than the removing skin
I believe Botched Ink® is the first removal brand to explain skin stain, and once you understand what you're working with, you can understand how to remove it

Posted • .glamsquared I used to allow a lot of things to stop me.
So many what if's - more than I care to count.
What if I fail?
What is someone says no?
What if it doesn't work?
Now, my question to all of the above is "SO WHAT??"
What is the absolute worst thing that can happen?!
My husband has the best cheeky response to all of this... "They can't take away your birthday" and if they can't do that, they can't stop my magical ass from doing magical s**t!

Do you know how to tell if your PMu pigments are organic or inorganic?
All reputable pigment brands will have an available MSDS (materials safety data sheet) either on their website or upon request.
You can use this or simply look at the back of your pigment bottle (if you can read that small!) to find the CI (color index) # to determine if your pigment is organic or inorganic.
Looking at the CI #:
organic pigments are numbers 11000-74999
inorganic pigments are numbers 77000-77999
A lot of PMU brands use both organic and inorganic pigments, so they will last longer, like Permablend. It’s a good indicator that you need to be extra careful because what you do will stick!
Other brands like LI Aqua are all inorganic pigments so they are very safe to use because they will be more forgiving, but you will have to do a lot of passes to get the color intensity you want.

Permanent makeup color theory and why it’s important to know warm vs cool colors:
RED will add fullness and warmth to your client.
BLUE will add depth and darkness to your clients as it becomes a dense, cool color.
YELLOW is a combination of warm and cool tones. It has little density but it does have extreme intensity.
And these are just the primary colors.
Secondary and intermediate colors play a significant role in PMu color theory also especially when determining a complementary color to adjust a healed brow or dealing with skin tones.
