Wow am I grumpy today. 😂Getting the work done though and being mindful of my energy levels. You can always start your training and modify as you go if your body isn’t cooperating after some warm up time. Consistency is the key to long term health. That’s what I’m after. Keep showing up for yourself. You’ve got this 🕺

Here’s an inside look at my space in the Ritchie Mill Building. ☀️
It’s a unique and beautiful spot with a multitude of different businesses.

My practice is aimed at the assessment, and systematic treatment of chronically over loaded structures for the relief of pain and dysfunction. 👍

Sometimes this happens quickly for some and slowly for others. 🕰

I combine deep tissue, therapeutic, and fascial techniques to help unload overworking shortened structures to free up natural range and ease of movement. 💃

When we move better, we feel better 🕺

You’re likely to be given homework and will need to participate in the changes you’re looking for. This doesn’t happen in a few sessions. You’ll need to commit to yourself and invest some time to create change. 🍎

I promise you it’s worth it. 😎

I’ll be honest with you in a heart felt way and will give you a nudge if you’re not looking after yourself.

Reach out to start again or book your first.😉

Support the brain. Choose to struggle!

Our muscles can produce BDNF, improving learning and memory and supporting neurogenesis.. Neurogenesis, though, is just one aspect of the story.

Exercise as an antidepressant may also depend on eliminating a neurotoxin.

Put another way, not only does exercise cause our skeletal muscle to produce beneficial compounds it also causes it to detoxify harmful ones. A profound thought.

Vigorous exercise encourages muscles to act like a sponge and take up kynurenine preventing its conversion to quinolinic acid - a neurotoxic agent that has been implicated in many mental disorders, including depression.

Kynurenine is a metabolite formed from the amino acid tryptophan. Under acute or chronic inflammation - tryptophan is converted into kynurenine rather then serotonin. Kynurenine can be converted into quinolinic acid which is an NMDA agonist and causes neurotoxic effects in the brain. It’s associated with depression.

There is overwhelming evidence that exercise helps with depression. A meta-analysis of 25 randomized controlled trials found that exercise reduced depressive symptoms, and this effect was particularly strong for moderate- to vigorous-intensity aerobic exercise.

Studies:
• Endurance exercise increases skeletal muscle kynurenine aminotransferases and plasma kynurenic acid in humans
• Exercise as a treatment for depression: A meta-analysis adjusting for publication bias 11/03/2022
