Pinch me. Took a little road trip to YYC to see this 90’s icon and all the feels of being a young teen with her music as the soundtrack backed flooding back. The intensity of her vocals & songwriting felt more poignant than the sing-a-long radio songs of our adolescence. Jagged Little Pill came out with You Outta Know as the first release. Not ‘Ironic’, which I also love but would have set her up for being another (quirky) pop princess. She showed us it was OK to feel our anger and embody a deeper sense of empowered womanhood. She is still very much making music that is genuine to her beliefs, advocating for our girls… and if I spinned on that stage for as long as she did, I’d be in physiotherapy for weeks!! lol Fit body + mind, she’s done the work! ♥️
