Sciatica is the symptom... the reason? Usually a disc pressing on a nerve.

Dr. Goodwin has been treating that problem on the DRX 9000 for about fifteen years. What the table does is less dramatic than people expect. It creates traction without the muscle contracting against it, which is the thing that makes ordinary pulling or stretching stop working. That lets the disc material centralize back toward where it is supposed to be, and the pressure comes off the nerve.

With enough treatment, the disc itself can often rehabilitate. For a lot of people that is the difference between a surgical conversation and a rehabilitation one.

This is a course of care measured in weeks, not one appointment. And not everyone is a candidate, which is exactly why we offer an assessment first.

If your pain travels down the leg, book an assessment and we will tell you either way.

Rest is not a treatment plan... It definitely helps but when you go back to the thing you actually want to be doing and the shoulder or the knee reminds you that nothing got fixed. That cycle is one of the most common reasons people end up in our office.

The reason it keeps coming back is usually that the sore spot is not the whole problem. A joint is a system: bone, cartilage, tendons, ligaments, and the muscles that control them. When one part stops doing its share, something else picks up the load, and the pain shows up where the system finally gave out. A hip that quietly lost some motion can turn into knee pain a year later. Treating only the part that hurts misses the chain that made it hurt.

So the assessment asks more than where does it hurt. It looks at your symptoms, your strength, your mobility, how you actually move, how much you are training, and what your sport or your job asks of your body.

Then the plan is built for you.

Book a free assessment, we'll tell you what's driving the pain and what we can do about it.

If your back pain travels down your leg, the useful question is not which treatment to try next. It is what is actually pressing on the nerve.

❓A herniated or bulging disc
❓Sciatica or radiating leg pain
❓ Chronic low back or neck pain

Those are the problems spinal decompression is built for. The DRX 9000 gently stretches the spine to take pressure off the disc and the nerve it is sitting on. It is non-invasive, and unlike treatments that only manages symptoms, it works on rehabilitating the disc itself.

Decompression is not right for everyone, and it is not right for every kind of back pain.

That is what an assessment is for. We find out what is actually going on, then tell you plainly what the right treatment plan is for you.

If you have been told to live with it, or that surgery is the only option left, book an assessment.

Seven months. That is how long Parminder went without being able to move properly.

He found Strive, and Dr. Goodwin built a plan using spinal decompression.

“Dr. Goodwin gave me a new life.”

Parminder's recovery is his own. Disc injuries differ, and so does the time they take. What his case shows is not a session count. It is that a disc pressing on a nerve has a cause, that cause can be found, and finding it is what changes the outcome, even after months of not being able to move.

If pain runs from your back into your leg and nothing has resolved it, book an assessment and we'll set you up with a treatment plan.

“Do you still crack backs?” 🤔

Yes. Spinal manipulation, what most people call cracking, is still part of what happens here every day, and it works. It is very effective for mechanical back pain, which Dr. Goodwin puts at roughly 80 percent of the population at some point in their lives.

But effective and right for you are not the same question.

If the problem is a disc, an adjustment can take the edge off. Spinal decompression does something an adjustment cannot: it rehabilitates the disc itself. That is why it is the first choice here for disc problems. Not because the equipment is newer, because the outcome is different.

Which one you need depends on what is actually causing the pain. That is the entire reason we assess before we treat.

If your back pain has been treated the same way for years without resolving, book an assessment. We will tell you which approach fits, and if neither does, we will tell you that too.

Do you brace yourself before getting out of bed in the morning?

That first step can tell you a lot. Persistent morning pain or stiffness may be connected to irritation in the plantar fascia, tendons, joints or nerves, or sometimes pain referred from another area of the body.

If you find yourself moving cautiously, holding onto the bed or preparing for pain before your feet even hit the floor, come in for an assessment.

At Strive Spine & Sport, we look at the full picture to help identify what may be contributing to the problem and what type of care makes sense for you.

“I couldn’t walk. I was on crutches.”

When Jason first came to Strive, he was dealing with four herniated discs, significant pain and major limitations in his day-to-day life.

After being assessed by Dr. Goodwin, his treatment plan included shockwave therapy and spinal decompression. Jason says that within three weeks, he was walking independently without pain, and within a month, he felt like himself again.

A year later, he still comes to Strive for ongoing care.

**Stories like Jason’s are why we take the time to assess the whole person and determine which treatment approach makes sense for each individual.**

Thank you, Jason, for trusting Dr. Goodwin and the Strive team with your care, and for sharing your experience.

Treatment recommendations are based on individual assessment.

You either love it or hate, but that “cracking” or popping sound you hear during an adjustment is often caused by a change in pressure within the joint and the release of gas. It's typically painless.

But if the idea of an adjustment makes you uncomfortable? We have other options for you.

From gentler treatment approaches to spinal decompression, physio, massage and osteopathy, the goal is not to force one type of care. It’s to find the right approach for you.

We always look at the full picture first, including your health history, bone health, symptoms and any physical or surgical contraindications, before deciding what treatment makes sense.

Let us know in the comments if you love or hate that cracking sound 👇

Not everyone with back pain is a candidate for spinal decompression, and that’s exactly why the assessment matters.

Dr. Goodwin looks at the full picture first: your symptoms, health history, bone density, arthritic changes and what may actually be contributing to the pain.

For the right patient, spinal decompression may be considered for issues like disc bulges, herniations, degenerative disc changes, chronic back pain and sciatica.

The goal isn’t to put everyone on the machine. It’s to figure out what makes sense for you.

If you’ve been dealing with ongoing back pain or sciatica and want to know what your options are, book an assessment with our team.
