Top ups. What Are They And When Do You Need Them?
 
Hair transplants are sometimes limited in how densely hair grafts can be implanted in one area. If too many grafts are implanted too closely in one spot or stacked, the blood circulation won’t be enough to keep the grafts alive and the grafts will parish.
 
This lovely young man is Nathan and he previously had a 2,000 graft F.U.E. hair transplant with us and is so pleased with his results. The majority of the initial surgery focused around the mid-scalp. He requested a small top up on his hairline. Top ups like this aren’t uncommon as there is a theoretical limit on how many grafts can be implanted in one area, which varies from person to person.
 
Top ups like the one we did on Nathan are usually around 1,000 grafts. We recommend top ups 12 to 18 months after your initial surgery to ensure the harvested grafts and donor areas have fully healed and grown back.
