1. Stop making excuses. You are almost always the only thing in your way of seeing results.

2. Hiring a trainer will not magically get you results. I give you the instructions, it’s YOU who has to execute them. There are 168 hours in a week. I can only help you two or three of those hours per week. What you do with the other 166 hours is where you will make change. Nothing changes if nothing changes.

3. Results take time and consistency. Stop sabotaging progress by giving up, restarting, or changing the plan every week/ month. Stop starting on Monday. Stop saying cheat day. Stop thinking of weekends as free play, that’s exactly what’s hurting your progress.

4. Pilates will not make you toned or build muscle. Progressive overload will. Lift heavy sh*t if you want to be toned. Pilates complements weight lifting well, but neither are the full package. If I had to choose one, weight lifting is the obvious choice.

5. You can’t build muscle by not eating enough. You can’t lose fat by eating too many calories, even if it’s ’healthy food’.

I’m not perfect. I have to remind myself these things all the time too.

This month marks TEN YEARS since I became a personal trainer 😱

Wow, to think about all the HIIT workouts baby Maggie made people do ten years ago 🤣 I’m sorry if you were one of them.

The knowlege I have gained, the people I’ve built relationships with, the growth I’ve done in business and as a person, the tens of thousands of hours I’ve worked, the crazy stories I have.. I wouldn’t change it one bit.

Thank you to all the clients who have been apart of this decade long journey. My clients have watched me buy houses, have babies, my dad have cancer, watch me grow and start my own my business, and I honestly don’t know how I’d get through life without them letting me vent and ask them their opinions or advice😅 you all say I’m the therapist but it goes both ways! Every day I’ve been on the job working with incredible people has shaped me and I am so thankful for that. I LOVE MY JOB and I feel so lucky to be able to say that whole heartedly. Can’t wait for the next ten years!

Cycle Syncing for Weight Loss ~ Key Takeaways
Day 1-20 you will see your most progress. Work hard, train hard, be on your A game. This is where you will have your heaviest lifts, have your least cravings, and comfortably maintain a caloric deifict.

Day 20-30 (post ovulation until day 1 of period)
This is where you will have cravings, feel tired, weaker in the gym, and you will likely even see the scale go up with water retention or inflammation. DO NOT PANIC. This is expected. Allow yourself 200-300 extra calories on the days you need it until your period begins again. This will not sabotage progress.

Day 1-20, get back to work!

Alot of people get discouraged day 20-30 because they think what they’re doing isn’t working when they don’t see the scale budge. But it is. In fact your body is doing EXACTLY what it is supposed to. This is why consistency matters. Trust the process.

A few new faces here so let me tell you a bit about myself!

I’m Maggie, owner and head trainer at our private studio Revive Personal Training.
I actually hate telling people I’m a trainer because people automatically think I’m judging them for what they eat or how they look. We aren’t all shallow jerks I promise 😝 I am passionate about longevity, injury prevention, and women’s strength but I also love to eat chips (ms Vicki’s salt and vinegar are my fave) and drink wine so I’m the last person to judge I promise. I think a healthy lifestyle and enjoying all the foods can coexist.

WHAT ELSE. I love to laugh, overshare, watch The Office or a good who done it, do puzzles, go camping on Lake Huron with my fam and friends, go to Home Sense, read embarrassing fantasy novels, go on walks and bike rides and of course lift weights!

My 4 year old is now yelling at me to play donkey Kong on Super Nintendo so he can watch and eat a snack so I’m going to go do that now.
