Meet Jett ✈️ our new team member

At eleven weeks old, Jett is already learning the ropes at the salon. His list of duties currently includes; running to greet clients, getting lots of treatos, long naps in the back room, stealing slippers and making us all laugh at his zoomies.

If Jett is out and awake, feel free to greet him 🥰 but beware as he has sharp little piranha teeth and likes to chew fingers!

⏰ Most often we need to lay a colour foundation and then build on that at each appointment that follows, all the while maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.

🗓️ Be consistent at home, between appointments. Use quality hair care products to maintain (toning shampoo), treat (hair masks) and protect (heat protectant).

✂️ Build a relationship with your Stylist! It’s your job to tell us what you like and don’t like about your hair. It’s our job to create a plan that gets you the hair of your dreams, and to be honest with you when it’s just not possible.

Hello 👋

It occurred to me recently that I’ve never actually introduced myself over here on this corner of the gram.

Hi, I’m Jen ☺️ I’m the owner of Loft 199.

About 8 years ago I fell head first into business ownership. I didn’t have money, I didn’t have a plan, I barely had the confidence.

Slowly but surely things fell into place thanks to the incredible support from our clients and community. And now, what started out as a semi-delusional experiment 🤪 has turned into a thriving salon business.

These days you’ll find me behind my chair a couple days a week where I get to create with my amazing clients. And the rest of the time I’m bouncing around doing all the things a small business owner does. It’s a challenging act of balance, but I honestly wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Okay, if you’ve made it this far, thanks for listening to my mumble jumble and here are 5 random facts about me:

🏒 I am a Guelph Storm season ticket holder … see you at the game!
☕️ I don’t drink hot beverages. No coffee. No tea. Yes, really!

There is just something about this time of year, when you’re full of cheese 🧀 and finally get to clean up after the hectic holidays.

Tomorrow is one of my favourite days at the salon … maintenance day! The salon gets a deep clean and we check a bunch of random projects off the list to get ready for the new year.
