Letβs talk about stress. We all feel it, some more than others. One reason for this has to do with how you think about stress. For example, recent research discovered that people who think stress is debilitating were more likely to be debilitated by it. On the other hand, those who view stress as motivating, are better able to navigate daily stressors with less upset.
Like anything new, changing your mindset about stress takes time and patience and, as always, if you are struggling with your thoughts and feelings, see your doctor or licensed health professional.

Nothing like a brisk walk to clear your head, so the saying goes. Turns out that being outside in nature not only leaves you feeling more energized and restored, it can also improve your body image. Positive feelings can translate into feeling better about your body and what it can do, versus focussing on societyβs body standards.

In honour of menβs health month, letβs talk about the biggest health issues facing men today. Chronic diseases like heart disease and diabetes, prostate and testicular cancers, untreated mental health issues, and su***de top the list. The good news is that most of these health problems are preventable and treatable especially when caught early through medical screening. The bad news is that men are around 30% less likely to visit the doctor than women.
This June, make a pledge to see your doctor, especially if itβs been more than six months since your last visit. And letβs remind all the men in our lives to do the same. β€οΈβπ©Ήβ€οΈβπ©Ή

Record numbers of adults, age 30+, in the US, Canada and the UK live alone (in the range of 15-30%). While living alone doesnβt guarantee loneliness, it certainly makes it more likely.
Recent research looked into what makes loneliness a killer. Lack of touch is a factor. Humans thrive in close social proximity to others and pleasant touch can soothe over active stress responses which can lead to serious health problems. Even visualizations of a hug from a supportive partner can ratchet down our stress responses. Positive touch like hugs, holding hands, or even a pat on the back can reduce loneliness, stress and the health problems they cause. β€οΈβπ©Ήπ«

Anyone else claim Irish βοΈ heritage?
Iβm proudly 1/4 Irish and my kids (owing to their paternal grandparents) are 3/4 Irish. This song is so beautiful, Iβve listened to it a thousand times already. β€οΈβ€οΈ

Spring is my new favourite season because it comes on more gradually where I live now. My favourite forsythia blooms at the end of April here and it is still brilliant yellow in mid May.πΌ
kindly gifted me this set of cream capri style athleisure pants and the blue wide bottom tank style top. Iβm wearing size 1X in both. Well made, soft, comfortable and fitted, this outfit checks all my boxes for Spring .πΈ

Did you know that you can validate someoneβs feelings even if you completely disagree with them? In fact, validation becomes even more important in moments of disagreement, with your partner or teenager for example. Saying that you understand how someone feels, without being defensive or trying to change their mind, can diffuse conflict and lead to better communication overall. Remember itβs the feeling youβre validating and feelings are never wrong.

Did you know that by working together, we can make a difference in preventing su***de among men under 50?
Men are just as deserving of support for their mental health as women, and itβs time to break down the societal barriers that prevent them from seeking help.
November is Menβs Health Month. As individuals, we have the power to create a ripple effect of positive change. When we talk about mental health and advocate for accessible support services, we can make progress in preventing su***de.
