I’ve been seeing a few of my fellow makers doing this trend and I had to hop on… because honestly, it’s so real 🤍

Running a small business isn’t just making products.
It’s answering messages, sourcing ingredients, researching, fixing problems, packing orders, double-checking everything, showing up at markets… and doing it all over again the next day.

Most of the time, it’s just one person behind it all.

So here’s a little glimpse into the many hats I wear behind Desbray — the parts you see, and the ones you don’t.

Every order, every message, every interaction truly means so much to me. Thank you for being here and supporting something so personal 🤍

Not all “hydration” is created equal 👀

A lot of people think if their skin feels dry, they need a heavier cream… but sometimes your skin is actually dehydrated, not dry.

Here’s the difference:

✨ Dehydrated skin = lacking water✨ Dry skin = lacking oil

This is where facial mists like this come in 💧

Rose water helps hydrate and tone the skin, while aloe vera soothes, calms, and supports your skin barrier.

But here’s the key (and most people skip this part 👇)

👉 A mist alone won’t lock in hydrationYou NEED to seal it in with an oil or moisturizer after

Think of it like this:Mist = waterOil/cream = seal

Use it:• after cleansing• before your oils/serums• throughout the day for a refresh

Perfect for when your skin feels tight, dull, or just needs a little glow boost ✨

Essential oils and pets. Let’s talk safety.

Essential oils are powerful plant compounds, and while they can be beautiful tools for wellness, they must be used with extreme care around animals, especially cats.

Cats lack certain liver enzymes needed to properly metabolize essential oils, which makes many oils toxic to them even when diffused. Dogs can tolerate some essential oils, but not all, and sensitivity varies by breed, size, age, and overall health.

If you choose to diffuse essential oils in a home with pets, education and caution are essential.

Generally considered safer options when used properly and lightly around dogs
Lavender
Frankincense
Chamomile

These should always be diluted, diffused for short periods, and used in well-ventilated spaces. Even with dog-safe oils, less is always more.

Essential oils to avoid diffusing around pets, especially cats
Tea tree
Eucalyptus
Peppermint

These oils can cause respiratory irritation, neurological symptoms, and toxicity in animals, particularly cats.

If you diffuse essential oils in your home, always make sure pets can leave the room freely, never diffuse in small enclosed spaces, and watch closely for signs of irritation or reaction. This can include excessive drooling, coughing, sneezing, lethargy, hiding, vomiting, or changes in behavior.

Every animal is different. What works for one may not be safe for another. When in doubt, skip diffusing or consult a veterinarian who is knowledgeable about essential oils.

Plant medicine is powerful. Using it responsibly means caring for every member of your home, including the four-legged ones 🤍

Ever wonder why your skincare isn’t doing what you hoped it would?
It often comes down to the order you’re applying your products.

Skincare works best when it’s applied from the lightest textures to the richest. This allows each product to properly absorb and do the job it was created to do, instead of sitting on top of the skin or blocking the step before it.

Start by removing makeup and sunscreen with a cream or oil-based remover. This step gently dissolves buildup without stripping the skin. Follow with a gentle cleanser to actually cleanse the skin and remove any residue, leaving your face clean and balanced.

Next comes facial mist or toner. This step rehydrates the skin after cleansing and creates the perfect base for serums to absorb more effectively. Applying serums to slightly damp skin helps active ingredients pe*****te where they’re needed most.

Facial oils come after serums. Oils help nourish the skin and support the skin barrier, but they don’t replace hydration. They work best when layered over water-based products to seal everything in.

Moisturizers and balms are your final nourishment step. These provide lasting hydration and create a protective layer that locks in moisture and prevents dryness, especially in colder or drier climates.

In the morning, always finish your routine with SPF. Sunscreen is your daily skin protection step, shielding your skin from UV damage and helping preserve all the work your skincare routine is doing beneath it.

When skincare is layered with intention, every product performs better and your skin feels the difference.

Save this for later or keep it nearby as a guide for your daily ritual 🤍

Vanilla is often misunderstood as sweet or simple, but in its true form it is warm, grounding, and deeply comforting.

In skincare, vanilla is valued for its soothing and antioxidant properties, helping support skin that feels stressed, dry, or out of balance, especially during seasonal transitions.

Vanilla brings a sense of calm to both the skin and the nervous system. Its familiar, gentle aroma is often associated with feelings of safety, relaxation, and emotional ease, making it an essential note for spring, when the body is learning to soften after winter.

In our Spring Collection, vanilla plays a vital role.

It softens and comforts the skin.
It grounds brighter notes like lime and rose.
It adds warmth and depth without heaviness.

You will find vanilla woven throughout our spring ritual.

Spring Body Butter for cushion and comfort.
Spring Body Oil for warmth and glow.
Jasmine and Vanilla Bath Soak for slow, intentional release.

Vanilla reminds us that renewal does not have to be sharp or sudden.

Sometimes, rebirth begins with comfort.

Frankincense has been used for centuries as a symbol of renewal, grounding, and restoration.

As we transition out of winter, the skin often feels depleted…dry, reactive, and in need of support. Frankincense is known for its regenerative and soothing properties, helping to support the skin’s natural renewal process and promote a more balanced, resilient appearance.

In skincare, frankincense is often chosen for its ability to:

🌿 Support skin tone and texture
✨ Encourage a calm, nourished barrier
🌿 Help skin feel strengthened during seasonal transitions

Beyond the physical, frankincense carries a deeply centering aroma. It’s traditionally used to slow the breath, quiet the nervous system, and bring the body back into balance — making it especially fitting for spring, a season of movement and change.

In our Spring Collection, frankincense anchors brighter notes like lime and rose, adding depth, warmth, and intention to every ritual.

Spring isn’t just about awakening.
It’s about grounding before you bloom.

Rose has long been associated with spring and not just for its beauty.

After winter, the skin and nervous system are often depleted. Rose offers gentle support on both levels.

In skincare, rose is known for its soothing, balancing, and toning properties, making it especially beneficial for skin that feels sensitive, dull, or out of rhythm after the colder months.

Rose helps calm visible redness, support the skin barrier, and encourage a more even, nourished appearance without heaviness.

Beyond the skin, rose carries a deeply heart-opening and grounding aroma. It’s often used to support emotional balance, softness, and self-connection a reminder to slow down and receive.

This is why rose is a spring staple.

Spring isn’t about forcing newness.
It’s about softening into renewal.

In our Spring Collection, rose brings:

🌹 Gentle balance for transitioning skin
🌿 Emotional ease and grounded femininity
✨ A sense of warmth and familiarity as the season changes

Paired with bright lime, grounding frankincense, and warm vanilla, rose becomes the heart of our spring scent story.

Spring arrives with the Equinox.
