I think it’s time for a little re-introduction as I’ve gained quite a few new followers.

Hi, I’m Alex, the face behind ✨ Studio 22 ✨
I opened my doors in October 2021, which means this year I’m celebrating 5 YEARS (still wrapping my head around that one).

But that’s not all…
This year also marks 20 years of me being an aesthetician specializing in waxing (yes, TWENTY 💁🏻‍♀️), and I’m turning 40… but let’s just keep that between us, okay? 🤫

My biggest love is travel…it’s honestly what I work for and live for. If I’m not here, I’m probably on a plane ✈️

I’m also super into music. I’ve been singing since I could talk, recorded with artists in Toronto, and even performed live (a little fun fact most people don’t expect).

During my years as an aesthetician, I was also a makeup artist. I now use my skills for my Halloween costumes. If you’re curious, you can creep my personal page to see some of my past costumes (that’s also where I post a lot of my travel content)

Close friends have given me the nickname Al, I wasn’t too keen on it but now it fits. If you’d like, you can call me Al.

Most importantly….what you see here is me.
I do my best to show up authentically online, so when you come into Studio 22, there are no surprises. You already know my vibe, my humour, and that you’re stepping into a space where you can feel comfortable, safe, and 100% yourself.

The type of wax used matters.

I use a blend of Lycon hard and soft wax, and recently added Bush Balm hard wax to the mix.

Hard wax is ideal for sensitive areas like the face, underarms, ni***es, and below the waist. It grips the hair, not the skin, making removal gentler.
Soft wax is better for larger, less sensitive areas like the back, arms, and legs.

Using the right wax for each area makes all the difference in comfort.

Heads up: if you’re on Accutane or anything that thins the skin (like Retin-A or some antibiotics), waxing is a big no-no!

These meds make your skin super sensitive and you’re more likely to experience skinning, tearing or burns, yuck!

It’s very important to make sure you’ve filled out the consent form and to inform me or your waxer if you’ve started these medications.
