Shockwave therapy works by delivering targeted acoustic waves to injured tissue. Those waves create a mechanical stimulus that encourages increased blood flow, supports tissue repair, and can help “restart” the healing process in chronic injuries that may have stalled.

It’s commonly used for conditions like plantar fasciitis, tennis elbow, Achilles tendinopathy, calcific shoulder pain, and other persistent tendon injuries, especially when rest alone hasn’t been enough.

The key isn’t simply treating where it hurts. It’s understanding why it hurts. That’s why every treatment at Ideal Physio begins with a comprehensive assessment, so we can determine whether shockwave therapy is the right fit for your recovery.

You can access shockwave therapy and our full range of rehabilitation services at our Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, and Windsor clinics.

Have questions about whether shockwave therapy could help your injury? Reach out to our team, we’re always happy to help you understand your options.

Vertigo isn’t just feeling dizzy. 😵‍💫

It’s the sensation that you, or the room around you, is spinning or moving when everything is actually still. It can make walking, driving, working, or even getting out of bed feel overwhelming.

The good news?

Many cases of vertigo can be assessed and treated with physiotherapy.

At Ideal Physio, we begin by identifying what’s causing your symptoms. If your vertigo is related to your inner ear or vestibular system, vestibular rehabilitation can help retrain your brain and balance system. Treatment may also include specific repositioning manoeuvres, balance training, and exercises designed to reduce dizziness and improve confidence with everyday movement.

You don’t have to simply “wait for it to pass.”

If the room keeps spinning, let’s start by finding out why….

Poor posture.
Weak muscles.
Limited mobility.
Compensating for an old injury.

At first, you might only notice a little stiffness or discomfort. Over time, those small compensations can lead to ongoing pain and make everyday activities feel harder than they should.

Physiotherapy isn’t just about recovering from an injury. It’s about understanding why your body is moving the way it is, improving strength and mobility, and helping prevent future problems through a personalized treatment plan that may include exercise, manual therapy, and education.

The earlier you address the issue, the easier it often is to get back to doing the things you love.

Whether you’re dealing with a new injury, recurring pain, or simply don’t feel like you’re moving your best, we’re here to help.

Think it’s just stress? It could be TMJ.

Many people live with jaw pain for months, or even years, without realizing it’s connected to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ).

Some common signs include:
• Jaw pain or tenderness
• Clicking, popping, or grinding when you open your mouth
• Frequent headaches or migraines
• Ear pain or a feeling of fullness (without an ear infection)
• Pain while chewing
• Your jaw locking or feeling like it gets “stuck”
• Neck, shoulder, or facial muscle tension

Because the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles work together, TMJ dysfunction can affect much more than your smile.

The good news? Physiotherapy can help improve jaw mobility, reduce muscle tension, address contributing movement patterns, and help you get back to eating, talking, and living more comfortably.

If these symptoms sound familiar, you don’t have to simply live with them.

Those tight hamstrings aren’t the real problem.

If bending down to tie your shoes, pick something up, or play with your kids feels harder than it should, your body is trying to tell you something. It could be your hips, lower back, core, or overall mobility working together, not just one tight muscle.

The good news? You don’t have to accept stiffness as “just getting older.”

At Ideal Physio, we look beyond the symptom to find the source of the problem, then create a treatment plan designed to help you move with more confidence and less pain.

Whether you’re in Hamilton, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, or Windsor, we’re here to help you get back to doing the things you love.

You don’t heal during treatment. You heal while you sleep.

One of the most common things we hear after an RMT appointment is …

“I slept better than I have in weeks.”

That’s not a coincidence.
Massage therapy helps reduce muscle tension and can encourage your nervous system to shift from a heightened, stress-driven state into one that’s more conducive to rest. When your body is less guarded, it has a better opportunity to settle into restorative sleep.

And that’s where much of the real recovery happens.

Whether you’re dealing with persistent aches, training hard, recovering from an injury, or simply carrying the weight of a busy life, quality sleep is one of the most powerful tools your body has.

Sometimes, helping your body sleep better starts with helping it relax first.

If pain or tension is getting in the way of a good night’s rest, our team is here to help you move, and recover, with greater ease.

Sleep is one of the most powerful forms of recovery. If discomfort is getting in the way, we’re here to help you change that.
