My Pretty Nails & Hair
PERMANENTLY CLOSED
Announcement
As most of you know, My Pretty Nails & Hair is closing permanently as of June 1st. I had already planned to retire the end of May but this was not how I expected to end my career. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitter about that, it just makes me a little sad.
I can't thank my clients enough for all the years they've allowed me to do their nails. I have enjoyed our sessions together immensely and will truly miss you all. You have helped me in so many different ways over the years and I hope you can say the same about me. Love, health and happiness is wished for each and everyone of you! ❤
Lacy, who has been with me for almost 12 years, will be reopening the Salon, under a new name, later this summer. Keep your eyes open for that! I for one, can't wait to get back in her chair!!! ❤
Hi everyone. Due to the provincial lock down, we will be closed for the next 2 weeks. For those of you with scheduled appointments, I will be in touch with you to rebook. Stay home and stay safe!!
To all my valued clients - I will be re-opening on Monday, June 8th!!!
There will be some new policies in place as directed by the Cosmetology Association of Nova Scotia and approved by Dr. Strang. There are several changes that MUST be adhered to in order to do your service. These policies will help ensure everyone's safety which is a must!
* Facemasks must be worn at ALL times and need to be worn when entering the salon (these will NOT be provided at the salon, and yes, homemade masks are fine);
* Clients have to remain in their vehicle until it is time for their appointment (we will contact you by phone/text when it's time to come in). If you do not have a cell phone, I will check for you in the parking lot lol. The salon door will remain locked to help keep everyone safe. ONLY myself, Lacy and our client at that time will be in the salon.
* Upon entering the salon, clients need to wash their hands before the service starts. In addition to this, there will also be a hand sanitizing station set up that we will be encouraging clients to use;
* We are discouraging clients from bringing food or drink during their service. Cell phone use during the service is also discouraged. As I am a coffee drinker, this is a tough one. If you must bring a drink, you'll have to take your cup with you when you leave. Last but not least on this topic, no takeout coffee for me :(
* There will be no waiting room in the salon. There will be no "visitors", therefore, you must come alone. The client will not be permitted to touch anything that isn't directly related to their service. The client will be coming in for their service then leaving immediately once that service is complete. We need time to disinfect thoroughly between clients (doorknobs, bathroom and our workstations and implements).
* If you are not feeling well, sore throat, fever, flu like symptons, you MUST cancel your appointment and reschedule;
* Time constraints are even more important now, so please DO NOT arrive late!
* If at all possible, please have the correct amount to pay for your service. We are discouraging leaving the salon to come back to pay...this is very important as we are trying to keep unnecessary traffic in and out of the salon to a bare minimum. ALL the usual methods of payment are still acceptable and currently, I have no immediate plans to increase prices.
I know this is a lot to take in and it's going to be a whole new experience not only for you, but for myself and Lacy as well. We can't wait to get you all back in our chairs!! The last thing we want is to re-open and then have to close again. Even if you do not agree with these new policies, this is the new normal and we ALL must comply. Please be patient but most of all be kind.
Now for the bad news.....
As most of you already know, I am retiring next year and have decided to make this last year as easy as possible. After a lot of consideration, and in dealing with the current situation as well as everything I've had to deal with over the last year and a half, I have decided to simplify and stop offering some of the services I previously provided. Effective immediately, I will no longer be offering a Pedique service (gel toes) as I do not have a separate station for this service. I have decided, with the current time constraints and the way I have to set it up, this will be best :( I will no longer be doing a lot of nail art for the same reason. My clients will also have to have a pretty good idea of what they want before coming in as time won't allow for a lengthy decision consultation. If there is something "special" that you want, it will have to be discussed prior to your appointment.
I have missed all of you terribly and can't wait to get back at it. Looking so forward to seeing each and everyone of you!! I will be contacting everyone over the next few days or so. Please keep in mind that I will start with those clients who lost out on their appointments when the Pandemic first started. Again, please be patient.
Laura
Dealing with grown out gel nails...I have received a few messages from clients wondering how to handle their grown out nails...
Here are a few tips that may help..
File your nails back to a more suitable length;
Use an Emery file to remove the "ridge" of the gel at the cuticle area...DO NOT FILE THE NATURAL NAIL"...only the ridge!! Filing the natural nail will weaken it!! You can also use this file to remove the color...but JUST the color. Its always best to leave a bit of the gel on for extra strength.
DO NOT pick the product off your nail. This method will also take several layers of your own nail with it!!
Finally, apply a couple of coats of nail hardener to further protect them. When using nail polish of any type, it's always best to use a non- acetone nail polish remover when taking the old polish or hardener off.
Hope this helps! I miss ALL of you terribly!! 😔 but we need to do our part to keep everyone healthy and safe!
Love to you all,
Laura
As of Thursday, Jan 19th at 9:00pm, My Pretty Nails and Hair will be closing until further notice due to the Covid 19 Virus.
I will reach out to all of you when we re-open to reschedule appointments. The most important thing we can do now is to try and keep everyone healthy and safe. ❤
My Pretty Nails and Hair will remain open until we are told otherwise. Please, if you have been away or around someone who has, do NOT come to the Salon for the recommended 14 days. The same is to be said if you are experiencing any of the symptoms.
If you need to change or cancel an appointment because of this, we will do our best to accommodate you at a later date. Every precaution is being made to keep our clientele safe.
Thank you ALL for helping to keep everyone healthy and safe!
PS...Lacy, the hairdresser is on vacation until March 24th 🙂
I would like to extend a huge thank you to all my wonderful clients and friends for their kind words, thoughtfulness and understanding during this difficult time. God Bless
To all my wonderful clients...I will be out of the salon for the remainder of the week as my family and I come to grips with the loss of our mom 💔
