Ok, so I'm planning on taking appts again in June...with that said, I am "required" by government, to wear a mask. U as the client are "asked" to wear a mask (we have some available to buy if u don't have your own). No, I can't force u to wear one but I ask u to at least consider it. 🤷‍♀️

U will have to sanitize your hands before entering the salon (there is some available to use in the lobby) and please use it before touching doorknob to come inside. Don't bring alot of unnecessary items with u to your appt, and try not to touch too many things (means extra cleaning for us).

Not allowed to serve coffee or water and u can only use bathroom if it's an emergency.

Other than that everything else with your appt will remain the same. Cash or cheque is fine for payment.

With the extra disinfecting and sanitizing (cleaning) in between each client and social distancing...asking that u don't show up more than a couple min early for your appt (just on time would be the best).

Ok this post might get a little long, but it's how I feel about the announcement of the reopening the province. 1st of all don't get me wrong, it's great they have a plan BUT do the phases have to be only 2 wks apart (so close together as far as I'm concerned) how you really plan for phase 2 when phase 1 didn't even happen yet?!

Phase 2 stating hairstylists and barbers can go back to work (with the opening of retail businesses) as of May 19th, IF they feel like it or want to, as long as they follow guidelines and precautions. (While nail techs, tattoo artists are phase 3?!🤷‍♀️) Later we find out that the precautions and safety guildelines are not only wear a mask (but gloves also), IF u can't personally distance yourself. OF COURSE WE CAN'T DISTANCE OURSELVES AT WORK when it's a one on one appt with your client.🤦‍♀️

So as soon as this was announced a few hairstylists started booking in clients for May 19th right away (and that's great for them and understandable for wanting to get back to work, get their clients styled up again, back to normal work routine and make money). BUT that may not be for every stylist right now. Yes, 20 or 15 yrs.. heck even 10 yrs ago that would've been me too! But I look at things different now. I can't understand how the works can be in almost complete lockdown 1 week, than announce the re opening to start phase 1 in what? 10 days... so ok if u are a stylist and going back to work...please slow it down!! Dont go full tilt just to try fit everyone u missed in right off the hop. They can wait a few extra days or even a week (they've waited this long). Book longer times in between appt so u dont have more than 1 person in the salon (per stylist) with u at once and give u time to clean and disinfect and just breathe.
I personally am waiting til May 19th to see how I feel about all of this and see what changes for phase 2 if anything... it's not so much the mask that bothers me while I work as it the gloves (impossible to cut hair with gloves on) and if we can't do our job the right way than should we really be considering going back to work just to make other happy?!
