I love the comparison of fascia to noodles!
⭐️Outer Hip Pain⭐️
In today's myofascial class, we are focusing on the outer hips and back of the leg (hamstrings, calves and feet). When the fascia in this area gets "stuck" it can create pain and referral patterns that run all the way down the leg and into the pelvic floor and low back.
We want our fascia to GLIDE. Think of a thai noodle dish for a moment. You know when there's plenty of sauce and the noodles can be moved around your plate no problem? OR you have insufficient sauce and the noodles get stuck together. They can move, as one big jumped blob of noodles, but not individually. That's sort of like our fascia!!
We can PUMP fluid back into those tissues and encourage better circulation and mobility by doing the type of class that is landing today in our membership. So keep on the look out!
Why should you care if your noodles, I mean fascia, are gliding??
Issues associated with restricted outer hip fascia:
- Knee pain (knees that cave in)
- Weak and falling arches of the feet
- Hip Pain
- Hypertonic pelvic floor (these muscles compensate)
- Unstable pelvis
- Low back pain
The primary muscles in this area are the glute medius and TFL. The secondary assistors are the glute minimus, adductor longus, a little bit of glute max and the gracilis. If the fascia is stuck, sometimes when you go to activate through these areas, it can also create pain.
