Evening everyone! (Or good morning) small post for today but always one of my favourites being a healthcare provider. I have tons of patients who struggle with stretching, managing stress or simply slowing down and taking time to just be. A great practice (I do this myself constantly as a therapist) is to take a breathe. And I’m not talking about quick sips of air; nice deep belly breaths are the way to go. You will find it takes time yes, but it targets the Parasympathetic Nervous system to stimulate a relaxing focus for the brain, overall promotes a decrease in cortisol levels and can help promote and increase of oxygen to your tissues (🤦🏻♀️🫣-seems obvious right?- wrong!) The practice is so important because a large chunk of the population doesn’t practice deep breathing enough; makes sense though! Our world is so busy that we forget to take a moment to just breathe. I encourage you to take the next step and practice deep breathing. It can be on a walk; sitting at your desk or while doing your “quick stretch of the day”. Where ever it is! I would love to hear about how it goes! I will be following up in the next week with sequential breathing and range of motion movements for parts of the body; it’s amazing how much relaxation and can occur with movement and focused breath. I hope you all have a great evening and enjoy the cool winter weather that’s coming into the area. Stay warm friends

Do you sit a lot? Find your low back getting stiff? Or Do a lot anterior chain dominant activities? Questions we all will find ourselves saying 99% of the time = YES! The post for today is great for combatting all parts of hip and spinal tension. These are poses of yoga yes :P however; I love getting my patients to open up through their hips. Not only for release of muscular tightness but for decompression of the spine, pelvis and hip as a combination. These poses also can help find a sense of grounding and peace for the mind as well. Finding your edge is one thing with yoga but knowing your edge is another; I encourage trying these stretches/exercises with 3-5 cycles of breath and easing into each pose. Explore the sensation of stretch if you are new OR challenge yourself with a different intention if you are experienced. Yoga poses are not always passive and will find new ways to challenge us all in different ways. Get up and move is the best way to keep your hips and back healthy; especially in different ways than what our bodies are used to.

Hey everyone!
Hope you all are getting out and enjoying this lovely early spring we are having. I know I have been.
For those of you who are training for Tough Mudder in June; here are some training video tips for the upcoming events this year.
My biggest and best piece of advice for recovery and maintenance with these training videos and training in general is Active Recovery after hard training sessions. Anything from running a couple extra km after the workout or incorporating a minimal impact activity such as swimming at the pool. These active recovery exercises will help flush at least 1/2 of the lactic acid build that accumulates from pushing your body to the max. The remaining lactic acid is naturally removed through the rest of the body.
Keep on Training Hard Mudders

Happy Movember everyone, taking great admiration this month to all those men out there who are growing mustaches for the awareness of Prostate Cancer!
On another note, it being that happy time change it is very important that you all take the time to get outside or something along those lines to keep your body awake even when the sun goes down :) Keep them active levels up and winter will be much more enjoyable; hit the ski hill, ice rink, bunny hills or even the back yard to build a snow man :)
