STUDENT TRAINING UPDATE:

Last week, another student just completed my Advanced Makeup Artist Training Program! Congratulations to 🙌🎉

Grace may have been new to the beauty industry when we first met but as a quick learner, and a naturally creative person with many interests, Grace dove into this intensive and came away learning the foundational skills, the advanced techniques and an understanding of the true power of makeup.

With 8 models and two weeks of intensive training, I can't wait to see what Grace does next in this industry. Congratulations again!

Also a huge thank you to all the models, who volunteered their beautiful faces and gave up their valuable time, to allow Grace the space to learn the techniques that were needed to complete the training with me.

STUDENT TRAINING...
This was a model from my recent Advanced Makeup Artist Training, instructing from Terrace, BC

Model arrived with lashes so our goal was to create a soft glam to bring out her eyes and compliment her features. We were mindful not to cover her facial tattoo with product so we kept the foundation light, focusing on evening her skin tone and then spot concealed.

My student Christina flew through her training with me and I have no doubt she will have an incredible year as a makeup artist. She is already a successful bridal hairstylist so it's the perfect compliment to her existing services.

Twenty-plus years at the makeup chair is more than a career. It’s a rhythm. It’s a language my hands speak fluently, even when my body needed to be still.

​Since mid-2023, my life has looked very different. I had to step back from the studio to navigate a complex neurological journey.

I was fighting two battles: a 2024 diagnosis of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) that left me housebound and bedbound at times, in need of caregiver support, and a separate, undiagnosed, rare condition causing unpredictable, stroke-like events.

​Regarding the undiagnosed condition, I’ve recently been accepted into the new Undiagnosed and Rare Disease Clinic here in BC. This is a milestone I am incredibly grateful for. A panel of leading specialists is now working on my case, and I am hopeful that by the end of this year, I’ll finally have the answers doctors have spent three years searching for.

​But here is where the hope lives: I am in remission from ME! This was the debilitating illness that had kept me away from my studio and forced me to limit my workload.

Two years ago, when I was functioning at only 25% capacity, doctors told me there was less than a 5% chance of remission, and that I would likely spend my life housebound and unable to work.

​To be here now is, in my mind, nothing short of a miracle.

​But I didn't spend those 2.5 years just waiting. On the days I could, I said yes. I continued honing my skills, accepted limited bookings, and taught the next generation of artists. I took the time I needed to recover, and now I am ready to return.

​My professional schedule evolved, but my 20 years of knowledge didn't. My skill hasn't moved an inch; if anything, this perspective has made my eye for detail even sharper.

​I am officially returning to the chair.

​I am being mindful of my capacity to protect my remission, so my bookings will be intentional but my online booking is now open once again.

Whether it’s for a bride’s big day, a special event glam, a 1:1 lesson, or advanced artist training, I am ready to welcome you back to my studio.

​The brushes feel right at home in my hands.

Please join me in welcoming Terrace BC's Newest Makeup Artist 💄She just completed her Advanced Makeup Artistry course with me with flying colors!

Christina was already a successful bridal hairstylist wanting to add makeup services to her business, so when she reached out to me, I was happy to customize a program for her.

We wanted to allow her to travel to Kamloops for her training when it worked best for her schedule but also allow her to have the training moved to an intensive format with longer training days and multiple models some days in order to ensure completion in a timeline that works best for her.

This was the first model Christina worked on and the format is always the same for the first session. I complete one side of the face feature by feature as my student replicates the look on the other side. This allows for a demo with immediate hands on experience feature by feature, with a thorough breakdown of each product used, the brush choice and the techniques involved to achieve the look.

After this first session, watching Christina work, I knew adding makeup services was absolutely going to be the best move for her and her business because I could see that she was a natural at it!

I just finished training another NEW Makeup Artist last week and inquiries have started coming in for this spring. I wanted to share that I have opened my booking calendar once again, both for lessons and makeup application and I also opened up a few spots for my Advanced Makeup Artist training course for this spring.

The course can be customized to fit your schedule, your needs, and your current skill level. No group environment. All training is delivered in a private 1:1 environment with models to receive step by step instruction for full makeup application. Every lesson is different, as is every one of my students. Our itinerary is built around what will serve you best and what you are most interested in learning to help you build a successful career.

I have worked with veteran makeup artists looking to level up their skill level and introduced beginners to the world of makeup artistry as a career.

No gatekeeping, so all your questions are answered honestly and directly. The goal is to have you confidently booking paid clients upon completion of your training.
