For years, I thought using more pressure meant I was doing better work.
Push harder. Work deeper. Make sure the client could really feel that I was doing something.
After enough years of working that way, my hands felt it. So did the rest of my body.
What took me years to understand was that I didn’t need to work harder with my hands to give someone a beautiful experience.
I needed to become much more precise with them.
Where I placed them.
How much pressure I actually needed.
How long I stayed.
My pace.
And whether I was paying attention to the woman underneath my hands instead of mentally moving through the next step of the treatment.
That changed the way I worked.
I could do less with my hands and make every touch feel more intentional.
And my body didn’t have to pay the price for me being good at my job.
This is one of the things 25 years of hands-on work taught me that I wish I’d understood much earlier.
I wrote down 7 of those lessons in my free guide for practitioners.

I’ve spent 25 years working with women, and the ones who say “I’m good” are very often the ones I keep an eye on. 😂
Because she really is good.
She gets things done. She remembers what everyone needs. She’s organized. She’s capable. She’s the person people call because they know she’ll handle it.
And sometimes you can see how tired she is before she even realizes it herself.
It’s in the shoulders that are practically touching her ears.
The jaw she didn’t notice she was clenching.
The phone she’s checked four times since she sat down.
I’ve also learned to notice what happens afterwards.
Sometimes she doesn’t say anything at all.
She just lies there for a minute.
Sometimes there are tears.
Sometimes she looks at me and says, “I really needed that.”
Twenty-five years of those moments have taught me something about women.
You can be incredibly capable and still need somewhere you don’t have to be the capable one for a while.
Somewhere nobody needs an answer from you.
Nobody needs you to remember anything.
Nobody needs you to take care of them.
You get to be the one being taken care of.
And I think I’ll probably spend the next 25 years reminding women of that too. 🤎
Send this to the woman who always says “I’m fine.” She’ll know why you sent it.
