It's unfortunately time to think about ticks again! Did you know we can use certain essential oils to assist in critter prevention?
Some Essential Oils That Repel Bugs: Lavender, citronella, eucalyptus, lemongrass, peppermint, rosemary, geranium, clove, clary sage, and cedar wood.
DIY Critter Spray:
10-15 drops of any of above concentrated oils (feel free to get creative)
1-2 ounces of a gentle organic liquid soap (makes the hair slick)
14 ounces distilled water
Pour the mixture into a 16 ounce spray bottle and spray your pet each day before heading out! (We transfer some mixture into a travel spray bottle to reapply after swimming.)
Want another option? Try using a bandana!
Natural Essential Oil Collar:
You can use a cloth collar, bandana, whatever you want that won't make your pooch too hot, uncomfortable, and won't fall off. Add 5 drops each of any combination of the above mentioned oils. Evenly disperse oils over the collar/bandana, and repeat every few days to a week, as the oils evaporate.
With snowy and slushy weather like today, let Happy Hikes take care of the dog walking for you!
First time clients receive a free consult and 1/2 hour walk for only $5! (Limit 3 dogs, $5 per dog)
