So when a client says, “I want Shellac,” they often really mean “I want gel colour that lasts and is cured under a lamp,”

For Charm, I would actually use “Gel Colour” on your menu.

Gel or Shellac colours? What’s the Difference?

Have you ever wondered why some people say “gel colour” while others say “Shellac”? 🤔

Here’s the simple answer:

✨ Gel Colour is a general term for nail polish that is cured under a UV/LED lamp. It gives you a glossy finish, better durability, and usually lasts much longer than regular polish.

✨ Shellac is actually a brand name by CND. It’s a specific gel-polish system that combines the qualities of traditional polish with gel.

So, technically, all Shellac is gel polish, but not all gel polish is Shellac. 😉
