Has your hair grown out nicely, but over time your color feels like it’s darkened or “faded”? Sometimes it’s from the toner fading, sometimes the natural hair color has lightened, creating less contrast, and sometimes minerals and metals have built up on the hair. So, what do we do?? Well, first of all, get more highlights!! That’s what we did here! Then, get a fresh toner! Also, if you have build up from hard water, or well water, make sure you’re getting the Beautiful Things chelating treatment to remove all that junk! It dulls your hair, causes breakage and makes it feel heavy!

If you look in the first picture, you’ll see different colors- first the natural root, then some pale yellow highlights and then as you get to the bottom 5 inches or so, there’s a blend of gold and copper. This isn’t the lighting. This is what we call, damaged hair, and not being able to do what we want.
Do you feel like your stylist doesn’t ever lift your hair light enough? Here are a couple thoughts on this:
1. If your hair is damaged, we can only leave lightener on for so long before your hair breaks off. So if your hair is at its breaking point, lightener is coming off whether your hair is yellow, gold, orange or red.
2. If your previous stylist didn’t get your highlights light enough, but those highlights aren’t in good shape, we can’t re-lighten them, or else we will break them off. This result will leave you with nice highlights on top of previous gross highlights, so overall, your hair still won’t look great.
3. Unless you’re willing to compromise the integrity of your hair, or amputate some of it, you will never love your hair.
4. One last thing- some of the copper is from her natural hair color lightening in the sun…just saying.

In conclusion- if you’re stuck not loving your hair because you have a bunch of unwanted tones, you have a few options, but what WE chose to do, was go thru and picked out ALOT of the gold highlights and re-lighten them, taking our chances of breakage, knowing we were ok to cut. Now, when we highlight next time, it will be a lot more even, and will just keep getting better as we go. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one thing, to gain another!

Some short haircuts.
Often times clients will call and say “oh, I just need a quick cut! My hair is short, anyone can do it”. Let me just tell you, not anyone can do it! Short hair is the hardest hair to cut. There are so many details! If the stylist doesn’t know how to cut based on head shape, or understand growth patterns or directions, you’re not going to have a very easy cut to work with. If they don’t know how to remove weight properly, or how to texturize in a way that helps with styling, you could be in big trouble! But when your stylist gets it, short hair cuts can be pretty amazing!

Talk about a lot of hair! Sometimes, when you first get your hair done, you’ll need a full head of highlights, but then to maintain from that, you might do accent highlights just around the face, or maybe half a head like 12 weeks after the initial appt. You don’t always need to do the whole thing…just keep it maintained, and you’ll be a ok!

This is not just a root touch up- this is a full color! And here’s the difference between doing a color in salon vs doing one with a box—> with a box, the same color goes on white roots, as goes on brown ends. This will not look even after it’s processed. You will have lighter roots, and darker ends.
At the salon (or at least at ), we formulate two different colors- one for the white hair, and one for the brown hair. Think about this- if you were to paint black on a white wall, would it go black first time? What if you painted black on a brown wall? Catch my drift? Plus- Davines color is made with 50% reflective color molecules, which makes your hair so incredibly shiny, plus it strengthens your hair with milk protein!
