My daughter Emerson, who is 6 years old, owns her own little flower business called Flower Box. 💐

We came up with the idea 2 years ago when we were both sick in bed with the flu. We were talking about how much we both love flowers. I asked her if she would want to sell flowers. Even though she was sick, she jumped out of bed with excitement of the idea of her own flower business. 💡

Later that week she came up with the name Flower Box. I tried to guide her in a different direction for the name, but she was very firm that her flower shop must be called Flower Box. 🌼

I started to learn how to grow flowers from seed. Mostly zinnia, strawflower, rudbeckia, snapdragon, scabiosa and candula. I acquired some fever few from a friend. And we haven't looked back since. The girls play a bigger part in the production of the flowers now that they are a bit older. 😍

She sold flowers in the platzl a couple of times in front of the old Hair Therapy location. That is when we came up with the idea to always give away the last bouquet to a random person to help brighten their day. 🌞

Now, Emerson has a couple of hard boundaries. Her teachers should never pay for flowers and Betty down the road should always get flowers for free. 🥹

Every year she learns more about cut flowers. The biggest skill this year has been where to cut the stem to help encourage more flowers to produce. And how to remove the lower leaves to extend vase life. We are both learning together and it is so beautiful to be apart of this process with her! 💕

I am very proud to be her mama! She is kind, determined and full of ideas! I am stoked that she has stuck with this biz of hers and I will continue to support her as long as selling flowers brings her joy! 🥰

All of these flowers were cut from our garden by Emerson (with my supervision and support if needed). The arrangements are all designed and built 80% by Emerson and 20% by Chloe.
