This month has been a busy one! The way our Harvest Moon Beauty ingredient sourcing expedition lined up with Colour Lounge Cosmetics and National Lipstick Day... well, sometimes that's just how it happens! 😂

As we make our way home, I'm so proud knowing the team had everything ready for our National Lipstick Day celebration. It takes an amazing group of people to keep everything moving while we're off chasing new ideas.

Sourcing ingredients for Harvest Moon Beauty that are grown, harvested, and produced in Canada is at the heart of our mission. Learning about the Manicouagan Reservoir and the 214-million-year-old asteroid impact that created one of the world's rare glacial clay deposits was, without a doubt, the highlight of my year.

Knowing this clay is sustainably harvested and discovering its incredible properties only reignited my passion to keep travelling across Canada, meeting the people behind these amazing ingredients, and seeing the innovations happening right here at home.

It gives me so much hope that one day we'll continue to unlock even more of Canada's natural resources, working alongside our agricultural sector to upcycle by-products into beautiful, naturally derived skincare ingredients.

And yes... we had to get our hands dirty! We made it out to the beaches where the clay is naturally found and experienced Mother Nature's own spa. 😂 Sometimes research means covering yourself in clay!

Now it's time to head home, celebrate National Lipstick Day, and start turning all this inspiration into something beautiful. 🇨🇦🌙

Last year, the tariffs made it incredibly challenging to continue growing our own cosmetics line, so we had to take a step back, be patient, and wait it out. Sometimes that's just part of building something you truly believe in.

Five years ago, Colour Lounge Cosmetics began with one simple dream and one lipstick collection... the HAPPY Collection. Every lipstick was named after a different word for happiness. Since then we've grown into lip liners, eyeshadows, foundation, lip butters, and so much more.

Colour Lounge Cosmetics is as much a part of who I am as Harvest Moon Beauty and the Boutique. Balancing all three has been one of the biggest and most rewarding challenges of my career. Building a brand from the ground up isn't for the faint of heart. You never really know what people will fall in love with, what they'll need, or what they'll simply pass by. Every market, every conversation, and every piece of feedback teaches us something new.

Behind every product are minimum order quantities, packaging decisions, label designs, testing, and countless little details. Sometimes changing something as simple as a fragrance, flavour, or lipstick tube can cost hundreds—even thousands—of dollars. But creating products that bring joy and offer real value to our guests makes every step worthwhile.

My years working in retail taught me something I'll never forget: a great lipstick really can brighten your entire day... especially when your hair already looks like it belongs on the cover of a magazine. 💋✨
