Let it Snow!โ is a course that combines science, math, and art to help students learn how snowflakes are generated and why they are unique.
๐ Students will use geometric principles to dimension and measure irregular shapes or difficult lines. Then, they will translate an abstract design into a printed object that is unique and aesthetically pleasing.
Let it Snow!โ is designed for students in grades 4 to 8, but it can be adapted for other levels as well.
The course includes instructor resources such as:
โ Connections: how the course aligns with the Ontario curriculum expectations and standards for science, math, and art.
๐ How to Apply the Process: a guide on how to use the design thinking process to help students plan, create, test, and improve their snowflakes.
๐ Global Competencies: how the course develops studentsโ skills in critical thinking, communication, collaboration, creativity, and citizenship.
โ Teachable Moments: tips and suggestions on how to enhance the and address common questions and challenges.
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
