Input. Environment. Response.
Lately, Iโve been paying close attention to these three things and noticing how they influence the way I feel each day.
Not to judge.
Not to strive for perfection.
Simply to become more aware.
๐ฟ Input.
How you care for your body. The food you eat, the water you drink, how you move, your sleep, your rest, and the moments you allow yourself to recover.
๐ฟ Environment.
What surrounds your body. The air you breathe, the products you use, the clothes you wear, the spaces you spend time in, and the people you share your energy with.
๐ฟ Response.
How your body responds to the first two. Do you feel grounded? Calm? Energized? Tense? Anxious? Unsettled? Supported? At ease?
Our bodies are constantly communicating with us. Sometimes the smallest changes in what we put into our bodies or what we surround ourselves with create the biggest shifts in how we feel.
โจ Awareness is where wellness begins.โจ
You donโt have to change everything overnight. Just start noticing.
What is one input or one part of your environment that helps you feel most like yourself?
As I take a moment to rest under my tree and admire my freshly weeded garden, newly landscaped greenhouse, loving dog beside me, and blue sky above. ๐ค Donโt forget the point of all your hard work.

Stress directly produces inflammation.
Let that sink in.
Stress. Directly. Produces. Inflammation.
And I'm not just talking about the stress of difficult conversations, work deadlines, or family responsibilities.
I'm talking about the stress of:
โ Harsh cleaning products
โ Processed foods
โ Poor sleep
โ Constant busyness
โ Unresolved emotions
โ Microplastics and environmental toxins
โ Lack of movement
โ Overtraining without recovery
โ Isolation and disconnection
โ The pressure to always do more
The body doesn't necessarily distinguish between types of stress. It simply recognizes that a demand has been placed upon it and responds accordingly.
From an osteopathic lens, health isn't merely the absence of diseaseโit's the body's ability to adapt to the demands placed upon it.
Our bodies are incredibly intelligent and resilient. They are constantly working to maintain balance, regulate inflammation, and move us back toward health. But when the cumulative burden of stress exceeds our ability to adapt, compensation begins.
Sometimes compensation looks like:
๐ Digestive complaints
๐ Skin conditions
๐ Persistent aches and pains
๐ Hormonal imbalances
๐ Fatigue
๐ Sleep disturbances
๐ Anxiety or nervous system dysregulation
These symptoms aren't necessarily signs that the body is failing. Often, they're signs that the body is communicating.
As osteopathic practitioners, we ask: What is the body adapting to? And has the total load become greater than the body's capacity to self-regulate?
Healing isn't always about doing more.
Sometimes it's about reducing the load.
Creating space for rest. Nourishing ourselves well. Moving regularly. Connecting with others. Supporting healthy drainage and circulation. Spending time in nature. Receiving hands-on care. Finding moments of safety and stillness.
Because when we lessen the burden, we create the conditions for the body to do what it was designed to do:
Heal, adapt, and thrive.

Healing doesn't have to be this dramatic event.
Sometimes it looks like finally giving your body a moment to catch up.
I recently went for a little โtune-upโ acupuncture treatment. Nothing was wrong โ but things could feel a bit better. It felt like time.
The treatment itself gave me exactly what I needed:
space to slow down, soften tension, and let my body settle into a calmer state.
But what stood out most was what happened afterward.
In the days following treatment, things feltโฆ different. Not bad. Just shifted.
This is often the integration period โ the time where your body is adapting, reorganizing, and responding to the support it received in treatment.
You might notice:
- less tension
- mild soreness
- fatigue
- emotional release
- lightness
- subtle shifts in how your body feels
And yet, we rarely talk about this part.
The body can continue processing for up to three days after treatment. THREE DAYS of change, repair, communication, and recalibration.
The question becomes:
๐ฑ How are you supporting your body during that time?
๐ฑ Are you slowing down where you can?
๐ฑ Hydrating? Resting? Listening?
๐ฑ Creating space for the changes to integrate?
Healing doesnโt only happen on the treatment table.
๐ฟ Sometimes the most important work happens afterward.
The next time you leave a treatment, ask yourself:
โจ What can I do today to help support my body through this process? โจ

This is really hard for me to share...
For the better part of 10 years, reducing my exposure to harsh chemicals and environmental toxins has been a journey.
I've always considered myself fairly "natural." I ate whole foods, chose fragrance-free products when I could, and kept my routines simple. But in my early twenties, making low-tox choices felt difficult. I was in university, living on a student budget, and "clean" products often felt financially out of reach.
Then life got heavier.
The uncertainty after graduation. Relationship stress. The daily accumulation of scented laundry detergents, cleaning products, candles, air fresheners, and personal care products that I never thought twice about.
Until one day, my body asked me to pay attention.
I woke up with a face that was red, swollen, hot, and puffy. My eyes were itchy. My lips were inflamed. My skin was in a state of emergency.
After months of appointments and testing, we discovered I had developed severe contact dermatitis, and my nervous system was stuck in a constant state of fight-or-flight.
Recovery meant changing almost everything.
Reading labels.
Removing fragrances.
Questioning what I thought was "normal."
Learning to listen to my body.
It wasn't easy. But slowly, I started to feel better.
My skin healed.
My energy improved.
My nervous system became calmer.
I felt more like myself again.
I'm not sharing this for sympathy or to scare you.
I'm sharing it because sometimes the symptoms we experience are messages, not inconveniences.
๐ฑ The products we use matter.
๐ฑ The environments we create matter.
๐ฑ The relationships we nurture matter.
๐ฑ The way we care for ourselves matters.
This month, we're exploring The Toxic Load at Holm Collectiveโnot from a place of fear or perfection, but from a place of awareness and empowerment.
๐ฟ Because sometimes improving our health isn't about adding more.
Sometimes it's about reducing what our bodies have been carrying all along.
โจ Have you ever made a change in your environment that had a surprising impact on your health? I'd love to hear about your journey.

"Have you planted your garden yet?" ๐ฑ
It's one of my favourite questions to hear this time of year.
Not because I'm an expert gardener (far from it), but because of everything the question carries with it: hope, possibility, connection, and the quiet excitement of what's to come.
I love the conversations that unfold around seeds, garden plans, favourite vegetables, and lessons learned from seasons past. There's something deeply human about putting something small into the ground and believing it will grow.
๐ค Health often works the same way. ๐ค
We rarely experience transformation overnight. More often, it's built through small, consistent actions: a better night's sleep, a nourishing meal, a walk after dinner, a moment of rest, a supportive conversation.
Just like a garden, our wellbeing thrives when we create the conditions for growth.
We can't force a seed to sprout. We can only tend to the soil, provide what it needs, and trust the process.
Maybe that's why gardening resonates with so many of us.
It reminds us that growth is rarely instant, but it's always possible. ๐ฑ
What are you growing this year? I'd love to hear!
I spent the weekend playing in the dirt. ๐ฑ
Bare feet.
Dirt under my nails.
Sunshine on my face.
Heart and soul full.
We forget how disconnected from nature we become when itโs not available.
Being stuck in this feeling of โWinterโ has been exhausting.
Letโs remember what it feels like to touch the earth again. ๐ค
I promise you, youโll feel much more grounded.

This nicer weather means finally getting my hands and feet back in the dirt.
And holy. I didnโt realize how much I needed it.
Last night while taking on the challenge that is removing quack grass from my garden, I had the thought.
This is not much different than what we do in Osteopathy.
The green part of the plant appears isolated from the surface, but dig deeper and youโll see the massive root system it created, connecting it to the other ten clusters of quack grass in the area.
Its roots are long, strong, and deceiving. You have to work slowly and gently to loosen the soil around the stem and follow the extensive root system to the next plant before you can fully remove the problem.
Is this not the perfect visual for finding the โroot problemโ?
By moving the plant, youโll never fully resolve the problem. It will simply regrow because of natureโs extensive root system.
You have to look deeper.
Work with nature to follow the root to the next plant, then the next, and the next.
And eventually you will have removed root cause of the quack grass problem.
This feels like the basis of Osteopathy. Working with nature to improve health.

They provide a unique opportunity for reflection.
Thinking back to the day I stepped foot in my very first clinic room at the Team Jigger Foundation, overwhelmed, uncertain, and some sssserious imposter syndrome.
Now, after FIVE YEARS, it's mostly feelings of gratitude, joy, appreciation and inspiration for the work that I get to do and for the people that I get to hold space for.
Over the last 1,826 days, I've had the pleasure of working with 728 clients. That's CRAZY!
Thank you to every human that has put their trust in me and has supported me on this journey. I am forever grateful to be able to practice what I love and connect with so many great people while doing so.
To extend my gratitude, I've partnered with ๐๐ต๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐ผ๐น ๐ฅ๐ผ๐บ ๐ฎ๐ ๐๐ผ๐น๐บ ๐๐ผ๐น๐น๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ to offer 25% off their 10-session Red Light Passes for the rest of March!
