Someone made a comment to me today about me “going to the gym,” and while it may have been meant as a joke, it rubbed me the wrong way.

And I think it’s worth talking about.

We really need to stop casually commenting on other women’s bodies, weight, eating habits, exercise habits, or what we think they “should” be doing with their bodies.

You never know what someone is working through. You don’t know their health history, their relationship with food or exercise, what changes they’re already making, or how much effort they’re putting into simply feeling comfortable in their own skin.

And honestly, women already receive enough messaging telling us what our bodies are supposed to look like.

We don’t need to be doing it to each other too.

You can compliment someone, hype them up, encourage them, and care about them without making their body the topic of conversation.

Just something I think we could all be a little more mindful of. 💜

POV: you’re an educator, but you never stop being a student. ✨

I headed up to Comox for training with OLIVIA | LASH EDUCATOR + STYLING SPECIALIST and got to spend the day learning, practicing, connecting with other artists, and adding even more knowledge to my toolkit.

One of the things I love most about this industry is that there is ALWAYS more to learn. New techniques, different perspectives, better ways of doing things—and I never want to reach a point where I think I know it all.

Especially now that I’m educating other lash artists, continuing my own education feels even more important.

The better I become, the more I can give back to my students. 🤍

POV: you book a nail appointment at Clove Beauty and somehow end up discussing Harvard, stolen body parts, and the black market before we’ve even finished one eye.

Just a normal day here honestly. 😂

Today Olivia and I went to the Crazy Cookie House, bought entirely too many cookies, and apparently started a tiny car podcast 😂🍪

I asked her a bunch of random questions, including, “What’s the best thing that’s ever happened to you?”

Without hesitation, she said, “Being your daughter.”

And well… that one got me. 🥹

Sometimes motherhood is messy and loud and exhausting, and sometimes you’re sitting in a car eating cookies when your kid casually says something that makes every hard day feel worth it.

I hope she always knows that being her mom is one of the best things that ever happened to me too. 💜

This is basically what appointments here are like: nails, laughs, and absolutely no ability to take ourselves seriously 💜🌿

I started my lash career with a $200 course.

At the time, I thought I was being smart. I wanted to learn, I was excited to start, and I didn’t really know what quality education was supposed to look like yet.

But looking back? It absolutely was not enough.

I learned the hard way that knowing how to place a lash is very different from actually understanding lash health, styling, troubleshooting, retention, safety, and how to think critically behind the bed.

That experience is a huge part of why I teach the way I do now.

I never want my students to leave a course feeling like they were handed a certificate but still have no idea what they’re doing.

Education should leave you feeling supported, capable, and prepared to make educated decisions on your own — not just able to copy what your instructor did.

Sometimes the cheapest way to start ends up costing you the most in relearning later. 🤍

Can DIY gel cause allergies… but salon gel can’t? 👀

Not quite.

Gel allergies are usually linked to repeated exposure to uncured or under-cured product, especially when it comes into contact with the skin.

DIY gel can sometimes carry a higher risk because of things like:

* product touching the skin
* incompatible or inadequate lamps
* under-curing
* thick application
* lack of training around product chemistry

But professional services aren’t automatically risk-free either. Proper application, correct curing, and avoiding skin contact matter no matter where your nails are done.

Most people assume Clove Beauty is named after the plant… but it actually has nothing to do with cloves.

I almost died when I was 8 years old.

It’s one of those stories from my childhood that sounds almost unreal when I tell it now — but it’s something I’ve never forgotten.
