The amount of products that I went through at the start of my curly journey is well, let’s say is actually embarrassing. Especially because I ended up throwing most of them in the garbage, such a waste of product and money.

I was so frustrated with product lines and that nothing seemed to work for me, not realizing that it’s actually understanding how these products actually need to be applied and set in our curls.

What works on me vs you vs anyone will be different!

So that’s where I come in, a good shaping for your curls comes in, and ignoring what everyone else is doing comes in.

Take every “curl” product with a grain of salt, they’re there to MARKET their product to you. And of course there are great ones, it’s just hard to sometimes find the one that suits your hair the best.

Curly Tip Tuesday! There isn’t a right way to dry your hair, but here’s some tips on both 💦

Air drying- more lived in style, less volume, more chance of washing sooner

Diffusing- more volume, more definition, more days out of your curls

It’s a lot easier to approach your hair with this technique when you’re looking for definition/volume without fully committing to the whole dry. This is my go to most days when I’m washing and styling for the first day. If I have the energy and time to fully diffuse, I will, but most days I choose this path.

Hey, I’m Kimberley (but most call me Kim)👋 thanks for being here! This is my small biz (that I’ve almost owned for 5 years already!) Tousled Curl Boutique, located in Lashburn SK. I am a curly hairstylist and servicing all surrounding communities around the Lloydminster area.

Some fun facts about me:
🏡I was raised on an acreage near Alcurve SK, and attended all of my schooling in Hillmond
🎓I graduated as a cosmetologist in 2012 from Marca (MC College) in Saskatoon
📚I have my journeyman’s license and have been primarily working/educating with curly hair for the past 10 years as a fellow curly
✏️I loveeeeee educating in my job
🏕️ My husband and I love to camp at Loon Lake
☕️ I am a coffee addict
🧩I love puzzles, books, and games in general
🎠 I’ve been to Disneyland 10 times, Disney World 3
🎶 I used to play the guitar, and a bit of piano, and also did some singing
⛰️We love the mountains and will go anytime we can (got married in Banff in 2022)
📺I love me some trash, mindless reality tv (hello Vanderpump and Love Island!) and some crime documentaries & podcasts
🌎 If I won the lottery, I would be travelling the world
🛁 I am a huge homebody, my energy gets recharged here. Give me some travel though and I’m all for it!
🌊 I love to swim, I honestly believe I am Moana when I’m near the ocean
🧑‍🧒‍🧒 I am the youngest of 3 siblings, I love my family time!
🛍️ I love to shop, clothing and Homesense are my weaknesses

The best thing about helping others embrace their curls? Not one person has the same head of hair. It’s a new challenge for me every time, and how cool is it to be that stylist creating confidence in others. That’s my end goal for every single person that comes in and sits down me.
