I am so happy to announce that as of December 23rd registered massage therapy in Alberta has received an exemption from the most recent provincially mandated Covid prevention measures implemented December 13th under the following guidelines:

• All clients must have either a written prescription from a Medical Doctor, or a written referral from a regulated health professional (please see photos for list)

• An existing written prescription is only valid if issued within the last 12 months.

• An existing written referral is only valid if issued within the last 12 months.

• A copy of the original written prescription or written referral is acceptable.

• The written prescription or written referral must be provided to the practitioner prior to receiving treatment.

•A copy of the written prescription or written referral must be kept in the patient's file.

This means if you already have an existing prescription or referral that was issued in the last 12 months you would just need to provide your therapist with a copy of that prescription prior to your treatment. (Even if your insurance company already has a copy unfortunately we also require a copy for our records as well)

If you do not have a copy of your current prescription issued within the last 12 months, you may contact your regulated health care professional or insurance company to get a copy of the referral faxed or emailed to our office prior to your appointment or have them provide you with a copy to bring to your appointment.

For those of you seeking a new referral from a regulated health professional please direct message me as I have a few ways you can obtain one should you not be able to get a new prescription/referral or copy of an existing prescription/referral.
