Essential Oil of the Day: PEPPERMINT (Mentha piperita)

Today's essential oil of the day is Peppermint. It is one of the (many) oils I couldn't live without!

Main constituents:
- L-Menthol: ~35%
- L-Menthone ~25%
- Menthofuran ~5%

Description: A thin, colorless to pale yellow liquid.

Aromatic Summary: A top note with a strong aroma, peppermint has a sharp, minty sweetness.

Blends well with: Bergamot, Cedarwood, Eucalyptus, Lemon, Lime, Mandarin, Pine, Rosemary, Spearmint

Top benefits of this essential oil:

1. relieves sinus congestion from colds and flus; diffuse or dilute to 1-5% in a carrier oil and rub on your chest, back, and soles of feet!

2. relieves headaches; diffuse or dilute to 5-10% in a carrier oil and rub on your temples and behind your earlobes

3. relieves nausea; diffuse or dilute to 1-5% in a carrier oil and apply behind earlobes, on inner wrists and inner elbows!

4. improves concentration; diffuse or dilute to 1-5% in a carrier oil and apply behind earlobes and to temples

5. improves energy and mood; this is a particularly good one to diffuse in the car on road trips to keep you awake! (as well as to ward carsickness)

6. relieves muscle aches and pains; dilute to 5% in a carrier oil and rub into sore muscles and joints

How do you use your peppermint?

Warnings: This essential oil should not be used in children under the age of 6 due to the high menthol content - it could cause respiratory depression in young children. (Spearmint is recommended instead for age 2-6). Dilute well as it may cause skin irritation in some individuals.

Note: Because of very high menthol content, it may crystalize. If so, place in a very hot water bath until it is a liquid again, then gently shake before use.

We are pleased to introduce you to Whole Health Aromatics, our hobby which we hope to use to fundraise for various charities!

All our Essential Oils are 100% pure, therapeutic-grade and are ethically produced around the world. They are free from pesticides and chemical fertilizers, and certified organic where possible/economically feasible. We purchase from one of the largest worldwide wholesale distributors of essential oils (many other brands purchase from them as well!). Because we have no overhead or multi-level marketing, we pass the savings on to you and add a modest profit, of which almost all will go to our chosen charity.
